Personally, I don't care if they are gone. I don't mind paying for my music (most of which I buy from used book stores, anyway--less $), because if I were a recording artist I wouldn't want to give my music away for free. If I really want to get a song for free, then I'll tape it from the radio.

Here's a link to a thread about the early news it was going to close down.
http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/cg...10&t=000044&p= It was an interesting discussion. As you can see, I'm for paying if I want music and think it's stealing from the artists to dl it all for free, especially if the ARTIST objects, since he/she/they created the music and should be paid for their work. I don't work for free, so why should they?

Well... Kazaa is not a piracy program, it's a file-sharing utility. What we do with that is the end-user's problem. But i know a couple of groups that release some stuff freely on internet (they might be giants is notorious for this) and actually allow bootlegs/videos of their shows to be distributed (Primus comes to mind).
I usually support the musicians i listen to. Ok, i download first a couple of tunes, but i always end up buying the CDs (and lots of them). But i don't see why i should support big corporations once the artist is dead and receives no more royalties. That's not a lawful behavior, but then who makes the laws... Those who own copyrights. Copyrights where valid until 50 years after the year of publication, but recently this law has been change to make it 70 or 100 years (don't remember which). Why? because everyone could have published stuff from the fifthies. That's a lot of books and records, and a shBEEP-load of money for the owners of the copyrights. Is it ethic that copyrights now become long term investments?
