...and I just realized how cool it really is! Do you think I should buy IV? Is it any good?
And what do you think about the Heroes of Might and Magic series?

Whats Heroes III like

They have a "boxed-set" on offer at the local store. Do you think that I should buy it?

I bought it last weekend, at the same time as dungeon siege, so I haven't played it very much. What I can tell you is that it is "the same but different." What I mean is, the game feels very familiar, but the combat screens are more arcade-like and cartoonish (think Age of Wonders). The town screens are similar, but each town has choices of creature generator structures- you build one, and you can't build the other. Heroes can enter combat. Armies can move on their own (without heroes), and you can build structures to transport your troops instantly from one town to another. There are a larger variety of magic items and objects/places on the adventure map, and you can play at a higher resolution than in Heroes III. Skills follow the four tier (normal, expert, master, grandmaster) system as in the MM series of RPGs. Spells are more diversified, with different schools, again as in the MM series.

I like it! I think it is well worth it, and I intend to play it a lot AFTER Dungeon Siege (I wish I could say the same about MM9...kind of a disappointment * sigh *).

I bought MM9 as well and have yet to even look at it, but from all I have been hearing (this included) im starting to worry about it. Of couse the fact that they fired the people who made the game BEFORE they had a chance to make patches or even have many people get into the game is also cause for worry

Wow, Magik, that's cool, I thought I was the only one who bought all three games at once. I also have been playing Warlords Battlecry II and I love it...It is a worthy addition to the Warlords series and loads of fun to play if you like RTS games.

There have been many complaints about Heroes IV not being as good as expected but I think it's cool. I've completed 2 of the 6 campaigns and all I can say is that I like almost all of the changes and so it is overall a better game tactically/strategically than HOMM 3. It is brilliant that you can get heroes into combat properly cos when they get high level they are tougher than black dragons. The skill system is MUCH better and Sir Michael was wrong though, there are now 5 skill levels in each skill as opposed to 3 (basic, advanced, expert, master, grandmaster). There are also loads more skills so heroes will be truly different. For example druids can get things like Summoning which at Grandmaster level means that elementals appear in their army every day for free. Then you can get Stealth which means your hero is invisible on the adventure map unless you have scouting so you can go and steal all your oponents mines without being seen It's also cool how some creatures are now purely spellcasters like Mages and Water Elementals and they actually have spell points and spell books like heroes so you can choose spells etc.

I think it's worth getting, it'll especially be great when the multiplayer patch comes out.

Reeeeal bad. They didn't even complete some quests in the game, just to get it out the door. There was one promotions quest that asks you to get a lock of the hair of a witch. She's right inside a cave nearby, and the lock of hair is on a stool next to her. She doesn't even fight back if you attack her.

It really feels...ordinary, next to the entire earlier series. Real shame, too. Van Caneghem's name isn't even in the dev team listings inside the game. Sounds like this one was done above his objections.

And a few days after it was released, they fired 3/4th of the dev team.

Are you talking about Heroes 3 the strategy game. Heroes 3 might n magic? If you are, I love it. Though money becomes an issue, and they so make the devils the worst guys. But they are my favorite. i was thinking of getting other Heroes, like IV and so on. Another great type of those games are Disciples Gold, and the Sequel, which I haven't got, but is really cool

I was wondering if anybody can compare the enemy AI between HOMM 3 and 4? I've heard the latest game has incredibly dumbed down AI, and that a bugfix was in the works.
