Sounds like a pretty solid party. Personally I would drop Kahlid and pick up Kivan as another archer/sniper. But your front line fighters might not like having their enemies slaughtered before they can get there

Yes, for this type of party I also would add Kivan. Kivan and Koran make a powerful attack duo with the bow. When launching an attack you can stealth both of them and sneak up on an enemy band. Often their (magic) arrows will take out at least one enemy in a group right at the outset.

Definitely. Also, do your best to equip your members with one missile weapon and one or more melee weapons. If all six of your party members can shoot, this will eliminate many enemies before they can even close with you. The few that make it through, just switch weapons to melee and destroy them. By weakening your opponent with missile weapons first, you will make your healing spells go a lot further. Kivan is a great addition to this party, and you are not losing too much if you drop Khalid.

I would definitely say drop Khalid and get Kivan. Kivan is superior in many ways to Khalid and he makes an excellent archer. Try giving him the Bracers of Archery, Longbow of Marksmanship, Arrows of Piercing and look at his THAC0. At level 7, his THAC0 for me with this equipment was 4. Kivan is an excellent addition to any party.

Well in my opinion you should have 2 archers (or 2 good ranged attackers) if you're going to brute force your way through the game. Kivan is out of the picture now that you gave him the boot (he is one of the few that will not come back). You might have to have to settle for a bard or thief as an extra archer, or else have Kahlid switch to bow.

I'm not a huge fan of Kahlid, although he is in my current party. You might want to tap into the evil NPC's to find a replacement for him. None of them make great archers, but there are some solid evil fighers out there.

I have to agree that one mage is important - they can blast fireballs ...
I always use 3 fighters, cleric, mage and thief. And all are equipped with long range weapons: crossbow of speed, short bow+3, slings for mage and cleric.
