I've been looking at some game screen shots and noticed that my game is a lot darker in comparison. For example ..(minor spoiler)
. . . . One screenshot I was looking at was of the black dragon in Suldanesselar, and the dragon showed up much better in the pic than it did on my screen. I could barely see the thing! Any reccomendations as to what I should put my graphics settings on?

In the BG2 Config, go to the visual tab and tick "Enable Brightening" selecting mid level should be enough to see everything clearly, otherwise set it to high.

Before tweaking the screen settings in the config utility, you should try to change your monitor settings first. See if changing your native monitor brightness/contrast helps at all. Changing the settings in the configuration utility should be done lastly, as it will affect game speed.
