Found items change from game to game

Do I have a bug or has everyone else noticed that the items you find change from game to game, also if you find an item say a great sword and then you die before you save, when you reload and go back to the same chest there's only gold or a gem, its like the game penalizes you for screwing up. I have 3 different games going and I have yet to find the same items in the same places in each game.

Most chests generate random stuff upon opening (an exception are the chests containing quest related stuff)

When you find a high level chest, a chest generating unique weapons and the like, and if you do not mind cheesy gaming save just before opening it if you do not like or cannot use the item reload.

That also means that you should (quick)save just after finding a nice weapon in such chest as it likely would not be there next time around.

BTW: "G" is the hotkey for quicksave I have not seen it mentioned in the manual or anywhere else.
