Welcome mdalos, Soon there will be a lovely sunrise and it will be light again. Use the time to fill in you map. You can acquire a spell called "Illuminate" later that will help a little. Try to make sure it is as dark as possible in the room you are playing (no sun or lights on the screen). You can try to adjust your game options gamma settings to see if it helps. Spend some time in the Crypt or in Town and time will pass. Take comfort in knowing this is a common problem with the game and you are not alone with being almost blind at times, walking around in the dark. I know this probably isn't much help, but its the best I can do. Perhaps some others will have better ideas.

Welcome to the board, mdalos!!!
You could wander around outside and just wait until you see the sun rising before actually entering Toad Village. It always seems like the night is longer in this game because it can be so very dark. Installing the patch does help with that to a degree, Mammawlin's suggestions also help. The night will pass! It doesn't go on forever! Later in the game, you probably won't even think about the day and night cycles too much! Wyv |

Welcome to the board fellow Canadian...
As far as night goes, well, it's just as long as the day. I'm sorry but you'll have to though it out cause there's no way to skip it. I agree, go back in the crypt to wack a few more undeads. By the time you'd get out, you'd be closer to daytime. One little piece of advice though: have your wizard specialize in sun spell to lvl 3 to acquire "illuminate". Good luck and keep us posted on your adventures. |

If you put a Whiskahs in your party he would have Night Vision. Then if you kept him as your lead character you could see better at night.

Lots of great advice! I had a MAJOR problem seeing in generaluntil I replaced my monitor. It made the difference between night and day! I could see in the dungeons, the water, the automap had more than one color...I will never have reason to complain about darkness again. ::sighs with relief::
