Fighter/anything, really. That's the only way to get over 18 str. I really like the kensai/mage, but a berzerker/mage can use helmets, gauntlets and shields. Berzerker/clerics are good too.

swashbuckler/mage is the way to go. i played solo and kicked some @sses. the pro with kensai/mage is that u can´t even use bracers(bracers of defence AC3).

with a swash i was able to have (at level10) a mage who can use katanas and has an AC of -9 (-12 if use blur, even better with draw upon holy might)

bracers of defense AC3
swash -1AC (-3 at level 10) (and +2 to hit and +2 to damage)
dex 18 -4AC
single weapon style -2AC
protection ring -1AC
any cloak -1AC
dakk'orns(forgot how to spell) blade -1AC (plus the extra spells).
Total -9AC

I´m now playing a fighter10/thief for awesome backstabing.

With the Kensai/mage the armour restrictions are the same as a kensai, but you can wear the robes (get the add on merchants and get the robe of vecna and it will be worth it). You will have no weapon restrictions though.

With the Fighter/cleric any armour, cleric weapon restrictions

With fighter/druid any armour, druid restrictions

With fighter/thief thief only armour, thief only weapons to backstab (you can use any weapons though and put proficency in it, but they won't backstab).

With fighter/mage mage armour (robes, bracers, etc.), any weapon.

Hope that helps
