I am not sure if this boy is lucky or unlucky. but before you go shooting hoops in your back yard check this story out.

Basketball accident severs boy’s hands

SURGEONS in Australia have reattached a boy's foot and hands after they were severed in a freak basketball accident.
The 10-year-old was swinging by his arms from a basketball hoop outside a friend's home on Saturday when the backboard, attached to a rain gutter, fell on him, severing his left foot and both of his hands, Deanne King, from Princess Margaret Hospital in Perth said.
"He was swinging on the hoop or slam-dunking when he was caught on the guttering, which acted as a guillotine," she said.
The boy underwent a blood transfusion during the seven-hour operation, which was conducted by a team of 25 surgeons and medical support staff, the spokeswoman added.
Surgeons were reported to be pleased with the patient's progress so far but had not ruled out further surgery.
The youngster was in a stable and comfortable condition in intensive care.

Yeah I heard that on the news as well. Guess Parents everywhere will look at HOW they attach a basketball ring.

It was bound to tear off if it was only attached to the guttering.

Its good that we have some great surgeons here who can perform these types of operations.

Poor quality, no doubt. If a guy the size of Shaq can slamdunk and hang on the rim for a while, anyone should be able to do the the same.
