For 68 hours i played this game with a friend and at the end his fighter-chars have nearly 50 hitpoints more than my fighters.
Throughout the game i always believe in hitpoints balancing from the game so that at the end we both have equal hitpoints. But the game cheats me and so my fighters are more vulnerable. Is there any "calculation" for the way the program shuffles the hitpoints ? And a question to the attributes in general: 21 points in Intellect will give u 5 points for the skills, that is what i found out myself But how about the other attribs ? I also found out that high presence really affects the percentage the character is being hit (except the monk&ninja). My chars look like this: Fighter: FOR & STR maxx, important DEX, AGI, INT, unimportant SPI,WILL + PRE. Mages/Priests: INT & SPI maxx, important WILL, unimportant PRE,STR,AGI,DEX,FOR How do u spend the points ? Letīs talk about his

The number of skill points you get per levelling up is based on your int divided by 4, rounded down. 24 int will give you 6 picks, 20-23 five, 16-19 four, 12-15 three, 8-11 two..It is worth increasing int early on to get those extra skill points..
Hit points is also based on role and level. However, two characters with the same role and same level may not have similar number of hit points because they may have followed different progressions. Even if you role change to a physically weaker role, you will still get 1 extra hit point per levelling up (more when you exceed teh previous level). Maxing stats to 24 is fairly easy. You can increase presence by making a donation at a temple each time you level up, so there is rarely any need to spend points here. You can also buy training in most stats at the guilds to raise these to 20. Strength is very easy to increase - there are plenty of rings after ishad n'ha which can be invoked to increase strength by 1. Sell the ring back at a merchant, buy back, re-invoke and repeat as desired. If you have "mules" in your character, you can invoke the magic lamp to increase all 8 skills by 1. Once your stats reach 20, then you can start invoking the ankhs.. |

I believe Fortitude does have an effect on how many hit points are gained at level up. The equivalent in most stat based games is the old D&D standard Constitution. In my paper system (loosely based on D&D but much more realistic) each of my eight attributes (fixed typo) effects ONE and ONLY one basic ability/stat. Constitution effects Hit Points period. Dexterity affects To Hit ability, and Will effects Spell ability (mana). I believe WW is more along those lines of one stat affecting one major ability although I'm too lazy to prove it .

When you promote to next level, the game calculates your new number of HP peculiarly: you do not get a certain amount of HP based on your stats but the game rerolls your number of HP from scratch! If the rerolled number of HP is lower or equal to your current number of HP then you get 1 HP. Otherwise, you get the difference between the rerolled number of HP and your current number of HP. An example: if you are promoting a level 5 warrior to level 6, the game will roll warrior's number of HP 6 times and compare the sum of HPs obtained this way with your current number of HP. If the sum is less or equal to your current number of HP then you get 1 HP. Otherwise, you get the sum minus your current number of HP hit points. This method of rolling HP has several concequences:
1. The number of HP you get during promotion does not depend on your stats. It depends only on your role. Fortitude controls your regeneration rate and not than your number of HP. 2. It is useless to try to roll a good number of HP. Well, you can be successful once or twice but then your current number of HP becomes so high that you get the dreaded "1 HP" next time you level up because the newly rolled sum will be always lower than your current number of HP. 3. My experience shows that you always get a serie of bad rolls of HPs followed with a high roll. Then you get a serie of bad rolls again and so on. For example, I played a level 12 barbarian with 68 HPs. At level 13, the barbarian got 43 HPs. That's why it could happen easily that your friend's warrior had 50 HP more than the your one. You got a serie of bad rolls that time. If you continued the game, your warrior would get a bag of HPs in the end and made up for your friend's HPs.

*Walks in from the rain, juggling several small balls of fire...*
Ya know, Kev, fire, in the proper hands, is a wondrous and beautiful thing. Snooping around and jumping to conclusions is enough to make me want to drop some in the "improper" hands... * tosses one ball extra high, then catches it back into the rhythm * ... or wasn't new year's eve busy enough? * speeds up the pattern, with small droplets of fire sizzling on the wet floor before quickly snuffing out* I came in and saw Willow's post, and could see that she knew well enough which side of the light she was walking on. Nothing I could have said would have clarified or helped things any more... nothing. * throws the fireballs up in the air, where they disappear * Oh, dear. I wonder where those went. Okay, anyone who hasn't played a clean game recently, check your backpacks. Those things like to home in on tomes and scrolls, and they have a voracious appetite.
