What can I do to beek up the ole sword saint, my AC is getting me slaughtered thru this game, and I can't lead like a tank without being killed at every battle, any cool weapon that will beek him up or items that will help the AC. Spoil me rotten, I've run thru this game once and am trying again with different classes.

well, later on, about level 13 or so 20-21 if your more committed, you can dual him into a mage or thief.... the mage will get protection spells that will make you all but invulnerable, and the thieves use any item ability will let you have a heavily armored wrecking machine. Aside from that, I always go for the old axiom, "the best defense is a good offense." In other words give him weapons that will incapacitate the enemy (flail of ages, Cel Fury, ect ect.)
Another good tip is to let him use the defender of easterhaven (I know, its a weak weapon, and only useful in some circumstances) which gives +20% physical res and + 1 ac, add HLA hardiness to that and he will only be taking 40% of the normal damage every hit. I find that a good combo is flail of ages +5 and defender of easterhaven, while the defender can be swapped out for more damaging weapons when it is needed. Hope this helps somewhat.
