Well, I'm a bit disappointed. I'd like to see them leave the NWN platform behind and publish a better game.

BG and IWD have real control of characters in battle -- and positioning means a lot. In NWN, you are basically in hack-n-slash world, position on battlefield is less meaningful and impossible to control, and spellcasting sux. I have never successfully fled a battle. Henchmen, who have no personality outside of battle, have too much personality in battle and are absolutely uncontrollable. BG is the opposite of these traits: highly personable characters outside of battle, and in battle YOU are in control -- absolute control (e.g. no random spells being cast into nothingness, etc.).

At least with KOTOR, the Bioware guys added a bit of control form the NPCs. I hope they figure that out for NWN2 -- and I hope they vastly improve it. The last thing I need is another 6-CD set of coasters.

So will this work with NWN 1?
Will it be like a huge huge huge expansion that Ziroc will be able to incorporate into Undermountain?

That's great news, but I wonder why they chose to run with NWN II instead of Baldur's Gate III? Engine attraction. Oh, I'm looking forward to Dragon Age as much, or more.

Oh, don't get me wrong -- I realize the benefit of NWN is multiplayer. In fact, if I ever get cable or dsl at home, I'll probably try it that way -- which is saying a lot, because I normally dislike multiplayer games. But, NWN and many toolsets have already been made. The basis for the game is already there -- the new version could just tweak it. The story mode wouldn't need to be multiplayer for NWN2.

I'm hoping my Thief character will get experience points breaking into things. You can't do that in the current NWN.

That was another great thing about BGII. Among a long, long list. Greatest game of all time.

I think theives getting XP from lockpicking, just like mage getting XP from spellcasting, was dropped as part of the 2E to 3E D&D rules changes.
