Yep, heard about this several months ago - but at that time they were only allegations. These deals always get you (the violator) screwed when you get caught. CA capped power prices in the state becuase the supply/demand curve would have made it super-expensive for CA residents (which it was anyway). But, the power it purchased from out-of-state in times of shortage could not be capped. So Enron shipped CA power out of the state, and then back in. What sh*theads.

I've got a developing theory that this is a problem of de-regulation. On that related note, we're seeing massive commercial wars regarding SBC (telephone provider) here in IL.

Companies always strive for deregulation under the guise that the increase in competition will give consumers more choices. In practice, though, deregulation allows companies to raise prices or find interesting ways to increase profits.
