Syrathic HP:65/74

Syrathic turned to look at his foe. The Grimlock was smiling, and the Elf could only wonder at its meaning. He prepared to move again, however, looking for an opportunity to strike again.

Suddenly, his arm was bitten. "What the...?" Syrathic started to say, turning in the direction of where he thought the attack came from. He was obviously distracted, and the Grimlock took full advantage of it, grabbing the Elf's arm and pulling Syrathic close, where he began to choke the Elf.

Syrathic saw the hidden assailant as he looked forward. It was one of those shadow hounds that he had fought earlier in the caves. It looked like it was just waiting to attack again. But the more immediate concern was getting out of the choke hold. He decided to use his free arm to slash at the arm that the Grimlock was choking him with. If he could loosen the hold, he'd be able to slip out and face his two foes in a more fair situation.

Shadow hp 39/51

As the one cloaked in shadows was preparing to deal with the grimlocks, he felt slavering jaws close on his arm and leg. The rending and tearing of his flesh sent a icy chill up his arm that would have made him drop his sword had his discipline been any less. The beasts fled back a few paces, attempting to bait him into a premature attack, but the elf was having none of it. At least the creatures had not tried to bear him to the ground, which would have surely been the death of him, instead they had backed away for the moment, which the shadow took as his chance to save himself. His sword began it's eerie whistle, as he twisted into his favorite style, acting purely defensively (ooc: +2AC bonus) as he took his time gauging their reactions, backing slowly into the open, where he would be more open to attacks, but cut off their ability to disappear into the shadows they launched their attack from (keeping away from the group of grimlocks around the possessor).

As one lunged at him he turned his blade quickly swinging with a practiced ease, the sharp rise in the whistling blade's pitch announced his attack a split second before it landed, as the sword passed by, the direction reversed quickly slicing in again.

ooc: the sword is of exceptional quality, but non-magical. I have no spell protections up currently, just dark clothing, (my invisibility was dispelled when I cast the fireball) the only protctions I have are a low AC (-1 with bladesong active-+2 bonus as noted above, elfin chain+2, dex-+2 bonus)

Larry, I'll pm you with my character sheet including the bladesong style, kit bonuses I already posted with Cyril's adjustments in the discussion thread. hopefully I've just saved myself from becoming kibble, guess I deserved it for being so pompous.

Kethotar (82/82)

Kethotar shrugged off the human's attitude. He would act the same way himself, if he were in that situation. He still did as he had said, though, and waited for their enemies to approach them.
It didn't take long before the ranger found himself in a tough situation. Something started taking form in front of the human; something that looked like a huge jaw. At the same time, some grimlocks were approaching him, and would be over him in a few moments. And as he didn't have time to think the situation through, he swiftly laid down his long sword, drew his dagger, and tossed it against one of the grimlocks, aiming for it's skull. Kethotar then picked up his long sword again and leaped in between the human and the maw in one quick movement. He had told the human he would protect him, and he intended to keep that promise, even if it meant he risked his own health. His plan was simple; he would attack the thing moving towards him and the human, hoping it was materialized enough to take damage from his weapons. And even though the grimlocks came second, he would do his best to defend himself and the human from them as well.

The Possessor - hp hiding behind a PM error

He watched in amazement as with a mighty leap the grimlock evaded his bola. It was gone for the moment, yet the Possessor was certain that with such strength in its legs it would not be long before it returned.
Wary now of this race and their potential for devestating charges, the warrior drew again his gladius and began a counter-circle; trying to keep one grimlock between himself and the other two to make sure only one could make a jump at him.
With his shield held high and sword poised to strike, the gladiator was waiting for the first grimlock to close the distance.

ruby 45hp

Ruby watches from a still crouched position. Attempting to appear not worth anyone's while to attack. She watches as a grimlock flies from his place to bowl over several other grimlocks. Her actions are decided. Her mind reaches out to touch that of the once flying grimlock. Grabbing hold with her powers, she is locked on to him. She prepares for her next willful action...

Wyrd 60hp

Wyrd stalks watching carefully the one humanoid his companion seemed at all comfortable with. The hound that just bit syrathic is in his sights. He launches his massive body in a gruesome attack. With his forepaws connecting and his jaws digging in, he manages a bloody rake with his rear paws.

OOC: Wyrd hit ac -3,-5,-5 if one or all of those doesn't actually hit i will be happy to edit. Damage=1,1,9,11(free rake for hitting with both forepaws) total of 22

Dantes - 66/76 hp

As Dantes finished his spell and black tentacles sprouted from the ground, he noticed a shadow moving out of the corner of his eye. Upon focusing on it, It appeared to be a floating pair of disembodied jaws, and the jaws appeared to be coming straight at him. That was until the human who had just introduced himself to Dantes jumped in front of them and began to attack them. Well that left Dantes free for another spell.
"Thanks," Dantes was all Dantes managed to shout at the new arrival, before focusing on yet another spell.
His eyes closed in concentration and his fingers traced symbols furiously as Dantes channelled a great deal of magical energy. Those standing within 50' of Dantes could "feel" the building of power in the air. and knew that something big was happeneing. His tongue flickered over the words of a language long dead to a majority of the world. Few mage's even dared intone it anymore. The power was still building in the words and the symbols being etched in the air of the room. The mage, wearied visibly as the last syllable was said and a giant floating disembodied hand materialized before the mage. This hand formed a huge fist and set out to bash the nearest target.

OOC: Sorry it took me so long to post everyone. I was unexpectently away for the weekend. Dantes has cast "Bigby's Clenched Fist"

For Syrathic:

The strategy worked for the elf, but maybe not to his advantage. Upon being cut in the arm, the Grimlock yelled, released the elf and pushed him away...into the direction of the hound. The shadow hound leaped from it's hiding in the shadows...now fully visible and tangible...and leaped up to grab at Syrathic's arm. The Grimlock however, was busy worrying about his own arm. Then, a lion attacked the shadow hound and the hound let go of the elf's arm to fend of this new attack.

OOC>>>

You have escaped the grasp of the Grimlock with no damage, but was thrown into the hound's perimeter, where it has taken a bite and hold of your arm. You have suffered 3 HP bite damage. The Grimlock is missing a turn while whining over the cut you gave it. The hound is now engaged in battle with Wyrd.

For Shadow:

The hound fell back in anguish as it had been hit twice by the biting of the blade. It's companion hound was wise enough to have witnessed this event and learn from it. It would not lunge in erroniously. It would wait it's turn where an opening could be found. Both hounds circled the elf. One limped and the other kept a graceful distance.

OOC>>>

Your attack on doggie #1 has hit the beast with considerable damage, and it is badly wounded. The other has forfeited it's turn to observe you more and try to find a way around your defence. You have not taken any damage this turn.

For Kethotar:

The dagger flew fast and true. It found its mark and resting place in the unseeing eye of the Grimlock. The beast whirled around and cried out very terribly, then fell to the ground, still clutching the dagger as if to remove it from it's skull..yet the body was lifeless. This sound of it's comrad made the other Grimlock halt and think about what it was doing. It listened to the sounds to determine what had just happened and what it should do. Now the Shadow hound that was to attack the mage stoped short of it's target and was held up by the other outsider that was bearing steel. The Shadow hound paused in it's forward attack only briefly, then changed in mid-strike to lash out at the one that had interupted the charge. The hound leaped at Kethotar, knocking him to the ground and rolled away from him, jumping back to it's feet.

OOC>>>

In the time that it took the Shadow hound to change course and attack you was so quick as it was already bearing down on Dantes, you were unable to deflect it's attack, HOWEVER, you have sustained no damage in the fall as your armor has abosrbed the crashing damage and the dog has sustained minor damage in the collision. Both of you are down, however. As for the Grimlock that is still alive, he is skipping 1 turn to try and figure out if there will be any more missles of death coming his way. He has paused long enough to reevaluate the situation.

For the Gladiator known as the Posessor:

The first Grimlock did indeed take that move to close the distance. It leaped very quickly at the Gladiator, attempting to bring him down so that his comrads could rush in on the fallen victim. The poor creature did not however understand the size of it's opponent. As it grabbed you, it merely hung there, jerking and trying to pull you down with little success. However, it's claws and teeth are very sharp and it began to try and tear at you. The other Grimlocks...waiting to hear the fall...were disappointed. It had not happened. However, they now moved in as they heard the lashings of their brother and figured it was going to happen real soon.

OOC>>>

The Grimlock took your bait and is now hanging onto your shield, trying to tear at your arms and face. You have sustained 2 HP damage, but this probably does nothing to you, for your training has taught you to ignore petty pain. The other Grimlocks will be on you in one more turn after observing how their comrad fares on you.
