ooc: TAO we'd be glad to have you rejoin

As the creatures reeled from the explosive flames, the shadow, now revealed to be an elf, quickly rushed the nearest beast-man, a lightning quick slice (hit Ac-2, 9dam) struck the nearest, the sword almost seemed to “sing” as it struck, and continued it’s whistle as it struck the next monstrous humanoid (ac-8, 13dam), and the blade continued it’s haunting whistle as the elf continued his deadly dance among the creatures

Ooc: I can parry one attack due to fighting style specialization (assuming they are in any kind of shape to attack)

WELCOME BACK, TAO!!!!!!!!

ooc: TAO, not only are you welcome in the game, we're glad to see you back. Things are a bit scattered at present as the game is only just getting up to speed again, and responses and posting have split between this thread and the LOF Recruitment/Discussion thread where Larry greeted you just after you posted here.

I should have a post together for your character within the next day or so. My own time for posting is still fairly limited and so I'm a bit more slow and scattered than usual.

Let's not have anymore of this silliness about you not being wanted in the game as that is simply not the case. It's very good to have you back.

BTW - Check your PMs.

* Wanders off to wake up a few more monsters.

Anarrima 60/60 HP

Ana had been in the process of prayer, focusing on the words that would envoke her goddess to supply a miracle upon this battlefield. There was a part of the prayer that involved opening her eyes and looking at the spot that was to be affected by her spell, but when she opened them...she saw nothing. It was much to dark to even see a few inches in front of her. Screams and fighting sounds ensured Anarrima that she was still standing in the cavern, and that they were being assaulted. She began trying to work on a solution for this. Closing her eyes once more, yet feeling extremely nervous that a Grimlock was for sure going to sneak up on her, she began to ask her Goddess to remove the blanket of obscurity. It would take some time and effort because this was no small spell she was combating...it was the entire cavern that had been dropped into blackness.

================================================== ==============================

Brendon 70/70 HP

Brendon saw the three Grimlocks coming for him, and dropped his bow to reach for his dagger in his belt, since they were much too close to hit with the bow. Then, cursing aloud that he had sold his dagger a while back, he jumped up and was going to run. That is, until the blackness hit. Not being able to see, Brendon tripped over a rock and crashed to the ground...then heard the Grimlocks right upon him. They could still find him! Shouting out loud now for whatever miracle may be lingering out there...Brendon could only suffer the agony as he heard the monsters growling right over him. Then they began to attack. His yells of alarm became screams of pain as thier crude weapons and claws tore into his armor and flesh. He reached out and grabbed at the air, then found an arm of one of the Grimlocks. Following it to the hand, he realized that it did not hold a weapon, as this was it's left hand. Then another blow from an axe hit him in the side. Desperately searching, he fought hard to find a way to save his own life.

================================================== ==============================

OOC>>>Anarrima's spell was disrupted and she has now began chanting a new spell to try and lift the darkness. Per Cyril, this will take 2 rounds to complete, and use two 4th level spell slots.

Brendon is under attack by 3 Grimlocks who are tearing him apart. He is trying to fight back, but cannot see in the darkness.

Grimlocks are not affected by the darkness.

For the BladeSinger:

The first Grimlock that was attacked gave a crying wail in his death as the sword bit into his life. The next had been trying to run as it was close enough to hear that an attack upon it's life was close at hand. The swords found it's flesh first. Three other Grimlocks in the immediate vicinity scattered when they heard the blades sing across their brother's body. It shocked them that one could move as fast as he did. Then the darkness came about inside the cavern. Yet, the Grimlocks took no notice of it and continued to run every which way, thinking that the blades were following them.

OOC>>>The first Grimlock was already wounded from a previous engagement, and you have finished it off. The second has been mortally wounded, but still craws. The darkness spell is not upon you, because you have not come through the doorway yet. Only the interior cavern has been affected. Still, you cannot see "inside" the doorway.

Aha! Got a good way to get our two newcomers in...

For Kethotar:

As you have gathered your wits and are planning to leave the ruins of the Drow city, you spot a set of fresh tracks that you had not noticed before, as they had been intermingled with giant and drow tracks. These tracks, as you notice, lead down a different corridor in the caverns than the others, and your curiosity has urged you to follow them in case they were tracks of a former slave of the Drow. As you do so, you will begin to hear sounds that tell you that a battle is being fought in the Underdark of the Forums.

================================================== ==============================

For the Unnamned Gladiator:

Your searching for an escape to the surface has led you to the sounds of a battle. Your thoughts are that if one of the groups involved in the battle were to be of a good alignment, then if you could help them fight and save thier lives..then they would point the way to the surface for you, and maybe even spare some food...because you are tired of eating cavern insects. As you come to where the sounds of battle are...you see our bladesinger friend, "Shadow", filleting a couple of Grimlocks. It is evident whose side you choose to help.

OOC>>>

Newcomers to the Aftermath of the LoF...It is your move.

The Unnamed Gladiator

Long years in the pits had quelled his desire for company, but now he was glad for the sight of another person. If a brief fight was all it would take to win some aid, he would gladly pay that price.
The warrior threw his arms back, forcing his shoulderblades together. He rolled his head and flexed his arm muscles, loosening strong muscles grown tense with his poor living conditions under the forums.
As he tightened the strap of his scutum, securing the shield to his forearm, he thought he could hear the voice of his owner, mocking as ever when it announced that 'The Posessor' had entered the arena. The warrior grimaced in disgust, invisible behind his helmet.
Then, certain he was well prepared, he drew his gladius and stepped forward to battle the grimlocks.

Kethotar

Kethotar followed the tracks with great curiousity. It wasn't very hard to follow them, or atleast not as hard as he had wished it to be. He was used to finding and following tracks, as he had done it his entire life, and the thrill he usually felt when separating one set of tracks from the other was almost gone. These were tracks he didn't recognize, though, so there was some excitement. And considering the setting, it was a pleasant little hunt, he summed it up to.
As he approached the source, Kethotar became more and more certain it was sounds of metal clinging against metal, and an occasional scream. "Battle," he thought, and drew both his Long Sword and Hand Axe. And quite correct, he suddenly found himself in the outskirts of what seemed to be a fierce battle. "Grimlocks," he thought with a disgusted expression. "But who are the people they are fighting?" Kethotar figured he'd have to find that out later, though, as the Grimlock's opponents, whoever they were, seemed to need a helping hand. He had a vicious little grin on his face as he stormed against the nearest Grimlock, using trained movements to parry and attack his opponent.

Dantes had time to see the grimlocks scatter in fear an confusion before everything suddenly went dark. Dantes grimaced in pain as a chill, colder than the darkest day of winter shot through his side. It was then he realized what had happened. His shadow magic had gone awry. There must be something in this place related to the demi-plane of shadow that caused his spell to react in this fashion. Dantes knew that the shadow wasn't close enough to hit him that, so he must be facing something else. In one fluid motion he drew his katana and set it in motion in a blistering horizontal arc, yet remained perfectly balanced and poised to defend himself against his now invisible opponents. His side burned as if touched by a cold fire, but he shrugged off the pain hoping to slear out whatever was nearest him, so he could begin casting again.

For the Possesor, Kethotar, and the Bladesinger

There are now four Grimlocks (alive) in your area outside the main cavern entrance where the Darkness is. One of the three Grimlocks is too wounded to move, and just sits and hisses at you if you come near it. The other three have now noticed how many scents there are in the immediate area, and have scattered to cower along the cavern walls...daring you with thier axes to come near them.
