Thanks for clearing that up Six.

I've just slogged my way through this very point and magic missile is surprisingly effective if you can cast 3 lower resistances beforehand. It hits them for an average of around 10 damage for me (which is a helluva lot better than the 2 or 3pts my best fighters can do to it)

I haven't got any decent high-level offensive spells yet, but no doubt they would have much the same effect. Not to mention you'll be able to cast 'slow' - for half the pain.

Ok, I did notice they can't get through the opening. Could you remind me where the fellow with the sling is? I do remember a +5 someone had.

And are you also saying I don't have to fight them? It seemed like there was nowhere else to go?

I don't have Always Toughest Random Spawns installed as far as I know, I have it set to normal difficulty.

Yeah, I always seem to run into that damn golem there, irrespective of whether I have tactics installed. Guess I must always be just at the triggering level.

The Sling of Everaad (sp) +5 can be found with Joluv who is in the Copper Coronet near the right-hand entrance.

I believe Six was suggesting things like Hide In Shadows, Invisibility, Sanctuary etc. Maybe even Improved Haste and 'Slam the Door'

Well don't feel too bad. I've played through BG2 countless times and usually walk right past the well

Thanks shamrock! I think I'll go back to town to do some buyin' and sellin'. It seems creatures do respawn in this game.

That was the cheesiest thing I've ever done! I defeated the Ad. Golem with the sling, about 1 hit point at a time.... worth the heatseeker though.

Is there a list of characters and where they can be found?

I'm also curious to see if people use smaller parties like 3 or 4 or less.

People play all kinds of parties, everything from solo characters to 6 person parties.

Most of the characters in the unmodded game can be found somewhere in the city. The only exceptions are Cernd, Mazzy, and Valygar (at least that I can remember offhand). It gives you names and hints to the locations in the manual, along with the NPC's alignment and class.

And trust me, you will see more golems, and trust me, there will be places where you can't cheese them like that...

The problem is that my game pack did not include a manual, which drives me crazy. Spells are are such a pain without it. I'll have a look for a readme file and maybe I'll print part of it.

Ok, do I (as a good aligned char) help the Shadow thieves or not? Or do I even have a choice?
