Am i right in thinking the Kensi is the best close combat character,Just wondering whether anyone disagrees.
I've heard rumours of Monks been very good in Close combat although i haven't tried one yet. |

Accord...
What would be the typical range for a maxed out Kensai? AC ? THAC0 ? Attacks Per Round ? |

Not sure, I never played pure class Kensai, my Kensai/Thief got Ac of -1, don't recall THAC0 (I can look it up when I return to Toronto, don't have the game in Waterloo), and you should have at least 4 attacks per round. The Kensai's KAI ability is what makes him powerful, keep in mind it is important to deal out as much damage as soon as possible for the Kensai, since normally his AC is not that low.

the best close combat class is probably a lev 20+ monk. They have high magic resistence(bout 65+)good thaco, stirke as +3 imune to normal weapons, death strike, 4 attacks 1-10 hth damage, stealth blah blah .just think how powerful theyll be at level 40 in the exp. pack

Yes, a monk becomes immune to normal weapons when he reaches certain level.

At lower levels, however, the monk sucks. I found a half-orc berserker to be a good killer all the way through

I'm with the Swash/Fighter. If you don't care about backstab he is perfect!
