The Hosts file fix didn't work for me either. I kept running into a brick wall at Tampa Roadrunner.

Can you find out if Winston-Salem, NC area uses a different hop-point? You said that various people in your area cannot log on via RR...but does my PC travel the same path as yours? Obviously, there is something involved in RR that we both share...but mine seems to be a little different, as mentioned by andrewas. If you can have them reroute you, if that is possible, to the configurations that I have, then you could at least use my "fix". I dunno. I am still a newbie at all this.

Me too, Larry.

I was told NC has two RR DNS servers. The one my area uses in Wilmington and the other in Raleigh(I think). It's weird that the techie mentioned Tampa last night considering Magik's problem.

Are you able to use dialup from your machine without the altered hosts file?

The reason I'm getting so much "play" from techies at RR is that I've confirmed this problem on over 10 machines in my area, and the techies can access the site through RR, but people in my area can't, so it can't be blamed on Ironworks. It's Roadrunner problem, and they know it.

The supervisor called last night, and he's suppose to call back today.

I am on the phone right now with RR. I want to see what they will say to me, given my info and your's...and Magik's. I will report the results in a few minutes...

Edit: Looks like I will have to wait until tonight when I get home. They want me to run tests to see what my PC is doing. I may not have time to do so, however. I have a halloween party to attend, after dinner. We'll see.

Yeah, they put me through lots of tests.

Pinging www.ironworksforum.com in DOS mode (didn't work)

Pinging the actual IP address (did work)

Lot's of different hassles, but once I convinced them it wasn't my machine, they finally stopped that.

Quite honestly, I've thought from the very beginning that this is the fault of one Wiley Coyote! Obvious some ACME product gone horribly wrong.

This is so cool, I love it when people work together to fix a problem I am really looking forward to what roadrunner has to say (so is my networking group)

Woo-Hoo!

Just got home and thought I'd give IW a try before getting a shower and heading for a fund raiser, and it's back!

It's BACK, baby, YEAH!

Now it was back briefly last week for less than 12 hours, but I'm hoping since tech support has been on this since this past Friday that this is the REAL deal and back for good.

Larry and Magik, I haven't talked to the supervisor to find out what they did yet, but I will call him tonight, if it's not too late, or tomorrow morning to try and get an update to help in your area.

WOO-HOO!
