Well in the spirit of boredom, I offer this topic LOL. Ahem. Ball Lightning yes. Lightning in the form of a ball that can travel horizontally, come through people's windows or out of their fireplaces, moving about in random patterns. What do you think? Ever seen it before? If you don't know what it is, here is a link of personal sightings:

o_O I have heard about this before, sounds scary and dangerous! Or maybe someone has found a scroll of cast lightning?

I have seen this twice in my life from quite a distance.
When I was growing up part of the time I lived on a farm in PA. on top of a flattened mountain (they would call it a mesa in the west I think) and we would sit out on the porch and watch thunderstorms come up the valley from the west, it was so awesome to watch the light shows as lighting would strike trees as it approached. Our house and barn had lightning rods all over them and we would get hit a lot too, but fortunatly the lightning was shunted into the earth [ 06-15-2002, 11:03 PM: Message edited by: MagiK ] |

I also had a friend who said her mom had their dishwasher running and the front door open during a thunderstorm and a bolt came through the door, straight into the kitchen and blasted the dishwasher. I am awfully cautious (now lol) when there are big storms outside...they don't tell you to take precautions for no reason! I was on my phone once when a thunderstorm was approaching...well I let it get a little too close before I hung up and it zapped a phone line in the neighborhood taking every phone jack in my house out in the process lol. I was lucky I didn't get zapped through the phone...it just went dead and then I had to pay a guy from the phone company to come out and replace three jacks! |

That is very cool! I just spent awhile reading those! Very, almost, should I say, scary!

Here in Florida, mostly Tampa, you see it more often. We have been dubbed the lightning capital of the world after all. It is rather freaky but aweinspiring at the same time. We also get some killer water spouts that seem to flash up for no reason also.
I watched one, a water sput that is, go from the bay through my friends swimming pool, then right back out to the bay. This was followed by a very strong blast of lightning which blew out the windows on his back porch. Talk about holy @#$% and stuff if we werent wet already we would have been |
