Floor walls
Floor walls, which can also be ceiling walls are a great tool to have in my kit.
I'm wondering Dinonykos, how you determined the borders for the OUTSIDE angled walls? Not content to have this only be a tool for 640x480, I'm trying to make one for a different resolution, that uses a square viewport - so I can't just resize the template. I haven't resorted to trial and error, and would prefer not to. The INSIDE floors were easy to calculate, as were the OUTSIDE floors for the straight-on walls. Any help would be appreciated. I thought that I would sweeten the deal by making this thread a place to showcase some of these walls - I have been making some for standard 640x480 designs (for The City). Here are the first ones I did. You have all 3 types. |

Re: Floor walls
Okay. I figured it out. My template looks a little different b/c I decided to handle walls J/P and C and D differently, but it still works.

Re: Floor walls
Whoa, this is all very heady stuff... I still have to work on my vanilla (mundane) walls...

Re: Floor walls
I think there is no perfect solution, and I admit, although I had a concept, in the end I still need to make some fine adjustments via trial and error. Your floor looks definitely reasonable, Manikus!

Re: Floor walls
Well, the floor walls I posted were actually using your template. The new template is for a wall format that currently only I am using - think of the screenshots I've shown of my Silver Blades project.

Re: Floor walls
Hey - do you guys use walls slots or overlay slots for your floors?

Re: Floor walls
It depends on what you want to accomplish. For example, you may want to plant a tree next to a road. In that case, the edge of the road should be the wall, and the tree put on top as an overlay. However, let's say you have a wall that could be used for a road, as the one Manikus posted, and another simulating water. In this case, you should use both of them, one as an overlay, the other as a wall, to simulate a lake/river next to a road.
