OK... Here are the answers.

Note that I left out the answers for questions 10 and 13 till the end after a spoiler warning. These contain (very small) HoW spoilers. The other questions should be safe to read. The HoW spoilers are negligible.

1. Name the person. Simply where he is and who he is. There is really no need to go into details; I will grant full points if I see you know whom am I referring to. [1 point each]
A. Hildreth – female dwarf in Easthaven inn.
B. Karrl. – one of the caravan merchants in Lonelywood not pleased about being stuck there.
C. Skaldar. – spirit shaman on Burial Isle.
D. Denthelm. – Tiernon Denthelm is the dwarf smithy in Gloomfrost. (I purposely gave his surname only )
E. Custhantos. – librarian in Labelas tower in Severed Hand (Only Soothsayer got this one right [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img] )
F. Ferg. – a priest in Kuldahar Ilmater temple.
G. Dolan. – one of the three trappers of Lonelywood
H. Beorn. – svirfneblin in temple in the svirfneblin village in Lower Dorn's Deep (the one who rewards you for rescuing Guello).
I. Damien. – fishmonger Jr in Easthaven
J. Valestis. – The guy in Severed Hand in who asks you for birds flowers and stuff.
K. Xan. – mentioned in Erevain's journal. He *could* be the same guy from BG but then many elves could be named Xan.
L. Vera. – thief in the frozen aquatic museum.
M. Eidan. – original owner of Evening Shade inn of Kuldahar (the one who died).

2. Below is a list of people with whom you fight. Is it possible to avoid the fight through conversation? And is it possible to get (at least some of) their items (other than pickpocket) if you do not fight them? Possible answers are "AF" – Always Fight after dialogue ends. "PA" Possible to Avoid fight through dialogue but you can't get the persons items (unless pickpocket). And "PAI" Possible to Avoid fight and you get at least some of the person's items. [1 point each. 0.5 point if you correctly guess you can avoid fight but make a mistake when it comes to keeping items]
A. Lysan. AF
B. Flozem. PAI – to avoid the fight simply dont kill his brother. To get the items (at least the belt) you have to talk to him after getting the picture he drew from the sculptors. I think that if HoW is not installed he will just leave without leaving you his items.
C. Seth first encounter. PA – answer correctly
D. Seth second encounter. AF. Answer purple, Marketh, Ilmater.
E. Uligar (Orc in mill in Kuldahar Pass). PA – threaten him but you need some requirements (STR? CHA?) because it didnt work with all my characters.
F. Marketh. PAI - You can get his badge easily. To get all his items I think you need high INT.
G. Brother Perdiem. PAI – some of you answered PA but he does give you his badge.
H. High Torturer in 5th level of Dragon's Eye. AF
I. Maiden Ilmadia. AF
J. Mebdinga. PA – you have to eventually fight her to pass her but it's possible to temporarily avoid the fight.
K. Pomab (after you return to Easthaven). AF
L. Purvis (outside the house). AF
M. Presio. AF
N. Joril. PAI – gives you the badge only

3. Simple True or False [1 point each]
A. There is a non-random item used by gnomes only. F – there is one for gnomes and halflings

4. With some characters (NPCs) you can get slightly different conversations depending on what class you talk to them with. What class(es) can get different conversations when talking with the following [1 point per class. You get a negative point (-1) if you write a wrong class where more than 1 class is asked for, but only for that question and it will never drop below 0.]
A. "Fake" Arundel after returning with Heartstone Gem. – Paladin. Will discover he is fake.
B. Aldwin of the Kuldahar Evening Shade Inn when you talk to him with the legacy ring. – Paladin. Aldwin will mock you for being holy and stealing
C. Commoner in Kuldahar (3 classes). Druid, Cleric, Paladin
D. Marketh (2 classes). Paladin, Mage – When Marketh tells his story you will learn he killed a mage and a paladin. You get an extra dialogue option.
E. Elisia. Bard – Sing a song.

5. Where are the following items? Give area and then whom it can be purchased from or whom it can be looted from or if it is in a container or simply on the ground. Or say if the item is random. If it is random you do not have to mention the area or anything else. Simply say random.[1 point each. 0.5 points if you get only the area right]
(good job here done by Aerich. btw, if item is random but you didnt mention it, I didnt award points even if you give correct location as to where the item might appear. Sorry about that. My mistake in designing the question. Shouldve included non-random items only).
A. Kinetic Spear – Buy from Lonelywood Temple of Waukeen.
B. Storm Bow – Buy from ranger in Lonelywood.
C. Belt of beatification – random (usually mill in Kuldahar pass)
D. Morningstar +4 defender (2 locations, one or both could be random) one is in Marketh's place (Fleezum's room), the other loot after killing priest in Lonelywood temple of Waukeen (tough no one would do that as it will screw your game and might make whole town hostile)
E. Gauntlets of Infernal Damnation. – altar near Joril's room in the Frost Giant caves.
F. "Valiant" – Lower Dorn's Deep, loot from Marketh
G. Static Two-Handed Sword +4. – random (usually in a chest behind maiden Ilmadia)
H. Heavy Crossbow Of Speed. – random (usually in Presio's room)
I. Namji's Robe. – random (in HoW Sea of Moving Ice island)
J. Ogi Luc's Great Robe. – Kuldahar, buy from Orrick after some time. ( I think only if you have HoW)
K. Chautog's Thinker. – TotL. Castle Maluradek, Northeast Tower, loot from harpy queen
L. Chainmail +2 (2 locations, one or both could be random) one you loot from Joril in Frost Giant Caves, the other purchase from Tiernon in Gloomfrost

6. How is it possible to defeat all trolls on level 2 of Dragon's Eye without ever using fire or acid (i.e. the trolls do not take any fire or acid damage)? [2.5 points]
What I meant is to gib them to chunks. But it's also possible to poison (cloudkill), phase, web and kill, stun and kill,.

7. If you threaten Nym he will disappear. However he will later meet you again. Where will he meet you and is it possible to kill him then or will he escape again? [2.5 points]
He reappers in the same area in north-east (the temple). It's possible to kill him then.

8. In Kuldahar there is a person called the Potter. In what quest will he be later involved [2 points]
He doesnt get involved in any quest other than talking to you a little.

9. Who can upgrade the rhino beetle shell and what will he make from it? Who will upgrade the umber-hulk shell and what will he make from it? [4 points]
Dirty Llew upgrades the rhino beetle into a shield. No one upgrades the umberhulk shell.

11. What deity does Whitcomb of the Root Cellar Tavern worship? How can you find out? [1.5 point]
He worships Tempus. You discover that by threatening him after coming back to collect Lysan's stuff.

12. How much XP can be gained during conversation with Seer of Gloomfrost? [1 point] 560 000. Twice 280 000 if you play dialogue right.


14. Who is arguably the most helpful person on this board? Always giving extensive advice in both character creation and tactics. While his posts are comparatively not very frequent they are almost always long and of excellent quality. (HINT: he uses green font colour ) [1 point]
I meant NobleNick. But... in spite of the hint about the font I would've accepted any answer as correct. It's your personal opinion who is the most helpful person here.

15. What kind of class does the person mentioned above like most? [1 point]
If NobleNick the bards, or dual-classed characters (but not dual-classed bards )

Greater Ice Troll, Greater Snow Troll, Berg Yeti, Bone Scavanger. I gave 0.5 points if for example you just say Ice Troll. Remember the negative points too.

Yanez was leading all the time and I was almost certain he would win. Then only question 5 was left to be checked (the items and their locations.I left this question till the end because I had to check some things) and that's when Aerich did extremely well and overtook Yanez.
Dirty Meg, you have IWD without HoW? You seemed to do very well in the IWD questions, but didnt answer any HoW one.


While I tried my best to keep all answers and results correct and accurate, do tell me if I made any mistakes. I'll be away for the weekend and might not have access to the internet but will be back on Monday.

Awesome. Does that mean I get to post another quiz? Doesn't matter, I'm going to do one anyway. It'll be shorter in length than ZFR's, and only have questions in it on things prior to (not including) Dragon's Eye. Therefore, everyone can participate and have a fair shot at winning. I'm trying to make it non-HoW, too.
