I thought myself a somewhat daring palate until I read about the sheeps head, and rotten shark meat. I think the Gold and Silver medals of nasty go to these two! Salted Licorice is definately a runner up!!!! I can also do without beef liver and brussels sprouts.

Hmm, I'm not big on pickled vegetables and when they served a 'salad' of pickled beets, pickled cabbage and carrot shavings and peas in a mayonaise/sour cream kind of sauce while I was in Moscow, I had a tough time not throwing up just looking at it sort of ooze along the plate....*shudder* . The pig's tongue in Leningrad was also pretty bad- very spongy texture and not anything I'd try again.
Mel, I guess we can't invite you to Sunday dinners at my place, we frequently roast a whole chicken or beef roast (bone sometimes in) or have porkchops (also sometimes with the bone in). PS: That salted liquorice sounds awful! [ 11-04-2003, 10:01 AM: Message edited by: Cloudbringer ]

I'll eat pretty much anything. I like salted licorice.
The worst thing I ever ate was some kind of raw pickled herring deal, had acid heartburn for 2 days after, very unpleasant. I like some of the other things mentioned. The weirdest thing I ever ate was peacock.

Most organ meat isn't particularly good for you anyway. Some organ meats are actually toxic to us in quantity! Particularly the livers of many animals.

Jorath, you win. I'm adding that to my short list of things one should not do to a sheep. Baa-aa-ad stuff.
Wellard, don't know if it was answered, but you were referring to Balut? Eggs with nearly-formed baby chicks in them? Theyre crunchy, y'know. Bones. In the south, in yesteryear, some folks would eat scrambled pig's brains for breakfast. Go figure. I can think of a lot more gross things, but that's because I watch Fear Factor. Raw Bull's penis, anyone? [ 11-04-2003, 12:28 PM: Message edited by: Timber Loftis ] |
