In Britain, we equate Ronald Reagan with Margaret Thatcher, since they had similar views and were in office at thw same time.

You may not know it, but Margaret Thatcher is, by Brits, generally believed to be the most loathsome creature in history

It ain't looking good for Ronnie

Sooo...People in Britain don't like Ronnie? Because he was allies and friends with Margaret Thatcher? Oh, well, people have been disliked for much less noble things. Personally, I always liked Mrs. Thatcher. And I voted for Reagen. Twice. And, since I understand that Clinton is well liked in Britain, that takes some of the sting away.

I never said I like or dislike Eisenschwarz or that I agree or disagree with him. I have always said everyone has a right to post their thoughts without being kicked around. I'm sure yyou also agree with that...don't you Ronn?

I think that's a low blow when you say I only defend people I like.

I find most ultra left wing remarks that I hear and read offensive, but that doesn't mean they should be censured.
Interesting that you quote my remark and not the remark of Eisen's to which it refers.

So it's ok for him to say that I believe in these things? It's ok for him to say these things about anyone who thinks Reagan was a good president? Don't you find that statement offensive and somehow wrong, or because you don't like Reagan it's ok?

I didn't say you only defend those you like Mark, I also said those who share your point of view on issues.

You may or may not have thought Eisen's remark was ultra left wing, and you may or may not have agreed, but the point is your sarcastic comment was aimed at my comment, while nothing was said of his.

I further explained the comment above in the post, but you didn't bother to point that out either.

It's ok for him to say what he thinks, but not ok for me? He says(because I like Reagan) that I think massacre, genocide, torture, and human rights violations are good, and I say that his accusatory statement is crap, and then you tell me that my statement is out of line? Way to protect everyone's rights to their point of view.

I think it's a low blow, too, just for different reasons.

You're right Ronn. Everyone does have a right to post their opinions and not be ridiculed for them. I did not word my posts well.

No worries, Mark.

I also believe that everyone has a right to their opinions.

I do try to avoid making comments like the one you quoted because they are rude, but when people make personal insinuations, it isn't a debate of the issues anymore.

We love him. Actually, do you think we could arrange a trade? Clinton for Thatcher?

Everyone's a winner!

I would also like to agree to the trade, get rid of the git, maybe you can take on paying his presedential pension too (his housing allowance is the highest (what he uses anyway) of any president in our history ie while all the former pres's are allocated funds for housing he uses more of his than anyone else)

Personally I think that Carter is better than Reagan. I didn't care for Reagan's policies as either gov. or as President. I feel that Jimmy was a better govenor and has contributed more to the USA and the world since he left office. As for what he was able to acheive while in office, Reagan was probably more effective but that was due to a more helpful Congress. If nothing else Carter proved that there is no place for honesty, integrity or compassion for a US President when dealing with the rest of the world.

Last I checked, Carter was not struck with a debilitating, wasting disease of the mind when he left office, while he was in office he did nothing at all spectacular. His economic and military policies were disasterous at best, and his one claim to fame in the middle east was really arguably more due to the two participants from Egypt and Israel. Carter is a good and decent man, but seems easily duped and none too bright when it comes to dealing with people who do not hold dear his cherished christian principles.
