OK, I'm sure that this one has been asked before, but I haven't found it.
It is sometimes desirable to NOT be wandering around in the dark. (Like out in the middle of the landscape with monsters with range attacks.) Has anyone found a quick (in real time) way to waste 8-10 hours of game time? I just spent a rt hour waiting for the sun to rise so that I could continue my adventuring with some chance of success. Thanks in advance. ------------------ **Sometimes the dragon wins.** |

I don't think there is a way. That's my biggest gripe about this game, days are too long. But eventually you get used to the dark and the illuminate spell helps a lot.

I THINK, but certainly am not Sure, that night/day passes while in town, but actual game time(like the monk quest) doesn't? I am probably wrong and this probably doesn't help you, so hopefully otheres here can help you better !
I do wish there was a Camp Option in the the game sometimes. ------------------ In an infinite universe, not only is anything possible, but highly probable! |

Thanks for the quick reply.
*sigh* Yes, "illuminate" does help a lot, but it only lights up a small area, much smaller than my casting range as a Warlock. I don't like it when the monsters can (apparently) see me and spit their nasties at me and I can't see them and retaliate! ------------------ **Sometimes the dragon wins.** |

Also I think that time passes faster inside of a dungeon than it does in the wilderness. Not absolutely sure about this though.

Many of us have noticed that time seems to fly when you have the game paused to do something (like eat dinner)... you get back, and day becomes night as you unpause. We've tried using this for the monk quest, but it doesn't work very well. However... it's something to try. Wait until it's full night before you pause it, though.

When I was trying to pass time on a Monk quest, I had the party climb the gate to a city and drop to the inside and just let the game run. When you want to get out, click on the gate and you'll enter the town.

Welcome to the board, Fliegender!!!
There is no way to "rest" in the game. You can change your spawn meter in the computer options screens so that you have fewer encounters during the night. Spending the time in dungeons or the like is another good way to pass an evening. Also concentrate on learning some SUN spells and get Illuminate - Very helpful!! Reset the gamma (on the computer options graphics screen) to increase the light as well. After a while you should get used to adventuring at night and not think too much of it anymore - I rather like it myself! Wyv |

My main objection to being unable to spend the night
(other than the real-time wastage) has to do with Role Playing, actually. I want to get into town, pull up a table and rent a bed in a tavern and wait out the cold and the dark. Alternatively, post a guard and sleep in the wilderness and take what comes to me. That was what I liked about Might and Magic -- you could decide to rest for 5 min., 1 hr., 8 hrs., "until dawn". Time passed, but it was more "real". Still having a gread deal of fun with this one, though. The monster animations are good (scary/beautiful) and the effects are great even in software mode. The humans are less good as far as animation is concerned. ------------------ **Sometimes the dragon wins.** |
