ok this all started when i was playing one day maybe three seconds after i saved my game in my dennis2 slot(i have 10 save games dennis1-dennis10)
my computer crashed i got back on and started playing again and i scrolled up tothe top but when i got to dennis3 there was an error maessage saying something about a pic or something so everytime i scrolled up as soon as it got to dennis3 it would gimme this message...i even went into the save file and delete dennis3 because it was an old file and i assumed it was the problem but it reoccured this time when i scrolled up to dennis4 so i decieded to re install the game as im installing when it gets to like 36%(i think) it says this: Component: Required_Data File Group: hd0_override File: D:\games\BGII_SoA\override\Am0072.wav Error: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable if anything i hope its something wrong with the install disk...because i can just borrow one from my dad's friend i sure as hell hope its not a problem with my save files cuz i dont think id wanna start a new game after going all the way up to point before u leave for shaugan(sp) city please please help any ideas would be appreciated i think i probably should of asked u guys when the first error appeared because i cant remember exactly what it said and i thought a re install would do the trick..but all i can provide is the error message which appeared during the install(because i actually had the sense to write it down please help me figure this out i love bg2 and cant live without it |

Its probably your cd that have got scratched... It happened to me as well wiuth my CD3. Many files were corrupted. Luckily I had a friend that sent me new files so I could burn a new cd3. Try to borrow that disc from your dads friend and see how it goes...

ok u know how when u uninstall bgII it keeps like 10 or so folders including saves and override ect
well i went to the corrupted file(stated above) and tried to move it to another fold just to get it out of the way to see if it would work but it told me it was corrupted and could not be moved then i tried to delete it...same message i was wondering if i could delete the entire override folder is there anything in there that has stuff such as ur specific game data? like the weapons u have or where u are or is all that data contained in the saves folder if nothing that cant be replaced is in there then ill try deleting that whole folder and see if it works another option would be to find out if i can actually move or delete that file is there a way to get rid of a file which is claimed to be corrupted? |

You can delete the entire override folder and reinstall. You will lose any MODs that you have installed, and custom items.

is there no way to delete this file...im sure some computer genius can delete it i doubt windows was designed to have the only undeletable files be corrupted ones |

Yes you can, Click on the start menu and select run. Then Type "command"...
If youre experienced in DOS enter the path where the file is located, if not type: cd games [Enter] cd BGII_SoA [Enter] cd Override [Enter] DEL Am0072.wav [Enter] Mission accomplished [Enter]= Push enter key [img]smile.gif[/img]

thanx for the help but i figured out another solution
i realized that the file was corrupt and could not be overwritten right? well why dont i just install it in another folder so theres no need to rewrite and of course it worked but!!!!! the intial problem is still occurring so there was no need to uninstall in the first place i moved the save folder into my newly created bg folder then i entered the game and started scrolling up to my last save and of course when it gets to dennis4 this message appears(wow i was smart enough to write it down instead of creating another problem like before): An assertion failed in Chvidimage3d.cpp at line number 1947 shall we begin the adventure again to find out whats wrong? im open for solutions i mean of course if i dont scroll up that high it works fine but my last save was dennis1 which is physically above dennis4 and the last save before that was dennis10 but there was a significant amount of time passed by so i wanna figure out whats wrong thanx in adavance |

Go to your Save folder and find Denis1 and Denis4 folders.
These are named like DENIS1 (0000001) and DENIS4 (0000004). Switch numbers I bolded: 1->4 and 4->1.
