After reading the thread about the Holy Avenger, I was wondering if there were many other ‘special’ weapons for different classes.
The Paladin has the Holy Avenger, who else has something?

Really, the only other "special" or class specific kind of weapon would probably be kamas. While anyone with the exotic weapon proficiency can use them, nobody else can put them to as effective use as the monk.

Kamas and that's it.
Though I'd say shuriken would be "special" to some character concepts, but they're generally not that useful.

That's a shame, I was hoping for more. Might have to play a monk on my next game.
Will a monk ranger work well?

Probably, but I think you should give it a go as a pure monk. Monks get the unarmed benefits using kamas, and you can end up with like 10 attacks per round with haste, pretty easily, at least at higher levels, and monks attacks per round go down in threes, instead of fives. ie; 16, 13, 10, instead of the ranger's 16, 11, 6

Actually.....
Due to a little problem in the way the game handles monk attacks, 1 level (yes, 1) gives you the monk attack progression for unarmed attacks. Just 1. (though you'll want more for the other benefits) This means that yes, a ranger monk is definitely going to be powerful, due to the second bug, you're not supposed to be able to dual-wield kamas and keep the monk attack progression, but you can in this game.

Might be worth a try. How many levels of each do you need for max attacks?

For max attacks, all you need is a Base Attack Bonus of 16 or more by level 20, and in the case of a Ranger Monk, at least 9 ranger levels.
