Mission accomplished!
Five months ago, I decided to join weight watchers to lose a little weight. Yesterday morning, at 8:17AM, I weighed in below my target weight... less than I've weighed in more than 20 years! Five months, 62 pounds... both dropped by the wayside!
I've got a before picture on-line, and I'll get an after picture shortly. It's been a helluva ride, and along the way, I've gone from XXL shirts to Medium, from 40 waist pants to 34 (or perhaps less), and possibly even dropped shoe sizes slightly My wife has never seen me weighing this little, and the entire family now outweighs me (instead of the other way 'round ). I'm completely off all medications I was on for blood pressure, triglycerides, and other stuff, and have at least slowed down, if not stopped, the advent toward diabetes. Since both my parents have type-2, my chances of developing it are 95%... but not any more Now for six weeks of maintenance to be sure I can continue to do it, and then weight watchers for free... for the rest of my life Anyway, I felt the need to share... now, time to get finishing my book. 'Night, all!

Re: Mission accomplished!
Awesome job B! losing weight can be very hard for most people, it takes a hell of a lot of determination to stick with it and you should be very proud
However one of the hardest parts is keeping it off, but i'm sure you have a much happier family to back you up through it! |

Re: Mission accomplished!
One of the common things I've seen about people having problems keeping the weight off is a simple phrase...
"When they went back to eating the old way..." ...they of course, got the same old results. I've changed my eating habits, not just my diet. And exercise is a more important part of my life now than it ever was. Sad, really... the two things that make it happen are the two everyone knows about, diet and exercise... and the hardest to make happen.

Well done B. I am very proud of you mate
I am at the crossroads myself, My health is just starting to suffer and my cholestrol has shot up. I know that I need to get serious about exercise but there is always tomorrow....

Re: Mission accomplished!
I would say that exercise is the most important part. People's weight is usually due to a total lack of exercise (as in my case) and less often due to amounts of food. I would have to eat really obscene amounts of crapfood to gain enough weight to develop more than a beer belly.
