How do you summon elemental?

I don't seem to be able to summon elementals. I am having problems in executing the command. Detail instructions would be appreciated.

well there are two ways to summon elementals, with the spell, and with canned elemental potions.

I've never used a canned elemental, but I assume
you select the character and "use item", then select the canned elemental. casting the spell is
like casting an area effect spell. you get the blue spinning staff. if you can't place it, that's
because the area is too small for the elemental to fit. in this case select a lower power level spell.

most indoor places aren't big enough to allow you to summon an elemental. now if you're outdoors and tyring to summon an elemental either via the "canned elemental" potion or the spell you need to select a spot for the elemental to appear at that's right next to the party. when you actually cast the spell (or use the potion) the blue spinning staff will appear. you want that staff to be right against (or very close to) your part.

Sometimes i throw elementals behind my enemies. Then, whichever way the target faces, someone gets to hit it from behind. I've also used them to control enemy flanks. You can even send them really far, before your enemy knows you're there. Just hit the combat button as soon as they're within fireball range and send the elemental.

Thanks for the response. I think my problem before was I didn't have enough space for the elemental to appear.

Canned Elementals are much easier to place, they're more likely to fit indoors. A level 6 Canned Elemental will fit in places that a cast level 3 elemental will not in many cases.
