A music video on the web

Heya. I put an old video I did years ago on my site. It's on the first page of www.hughwilson.org under the welcome.

I'm going to put up others as of tonight, and am working on a new one for a new song.

I'm just wondering if it downloads o.k. The music quality is a bit "how's your father" so that It'd fit on.

I'm wondering if putting the whole thing up is a good idea, or if a small sample of it would be better.

Hiya, tried to view the file but it took forever to load. Just wondering, how big is the video file?

Just a suggestion, hope you don't mind, perhaps it'll be even more helpful if you could list the actual file size in brackets next to the short discription text. This way, visitors to your site will get an estimation of how long the download will take.

Compressing movie-files hardly ever works good enough to make the download-size significantly smaller. I've tried some compression myself, and I still ended up with a file around 12 MB. So I suppose you'll just have to show some patience. Either that, or hope Yorick will put up a short sample of the videoclip as well.

Ah, but the moment you start the download you'd know how large the file will be, no? But it's 13 MB-ish. [img]smile.gif[/img]

(and downloading the entire file took me about 5 minutes... While normally speaking, my cable connection is far from impressive. So I've got no similar "it took forever to load!" complaints whatsoever. )

12.7mb is the size.

Dial-up is pretty much out of the question I'd say... I compromised a fair bit just to get it down that small. I originally had it at over 20mb, and THAT was a quality compromise too. Ah well. 10 years ago this was an impossibility, so I'm jumping for joy, not complaining. [img]smile.gif[/img]
