Gee, I didn't know that you have such things in Hawaii...
Can only hope things will eventually change for the better over there...

I never considered the natives to be either lazy or drunks, just hateful of whites and resentful of the U.S. for overcrowding their beautiful little island of Oahu with military bases and apartment complexes. Their attitudes are even worse toward the Canadians. What did the Canadians do?! |

I loved China, but then, I didn't spend to much time in the cities. I visited a tiny village on the edge of it that barely had electricity, and found it as lovely as Shanghai.

What did the Canadians do?!
Amazingly enough I have known literally dozens of people that lived in Hawaii for 3 to 6 years at a stretch and not one of them complained that the "natives" hated whites (or the military in particular). I don't doubt that there are some that do just as some blacks hate whites and some whites hate blacks, but without having observed it myself Im relying on the acounts I get from others...so far, the majority loved Hawaii, had no problem with "natives" and thought the place was WAY too expensive to live....oh and there is a pervasive dislike for the higher levels of the Naval command there....but I don't think that has much to do with Hawaii per se. I suppose that no matter where you go you can find people that are disatisfied..that seems to be the nature of man (and woman)...what counts is can you voice your disatisfaction without being shot or imprisoned for it? Can you work to effect change without being put in jeopardy? Or maybe the people really do not matter and that socialism is the answer and that we should all give up individual identity and become the state...just a bunch of mindless drones working for ...the betterment of ...errr the state? Ok I got lost there and confused myself. I offically recant and now say "China is a paradise and all people who wish to work for the betterment of humanity should quickly emmigrate there as fast as is humanly possible." Not every Hawaiian native is hateful toward white people, but there are an awful lot (adults & children alike) who can make a white person's day a living hell over there. I met a lot of nice Hawaiian natives too, very friendly people actually, who were willing to share their knowledge of their home and its history. Its a beautiful place, a true paradise (once you get past the pavement) with a history rich in mystical beliefs. My most memorable friend from my days there (I was 18 & 19 years old) was an 85 year old Japenese woman who I would walk to the store with every morning and carry her bags home to her doorstep. She loved to talk lol. I do miss her. [ 08-31-2002, 08:55 PM: Message edited by: Moni ] |

LOL Moni, when I was in Vietnamn, I was in a TINY village for around 3 days. THe only electricity there was were the lights in the very small motel where I stayed. When I had to walk half a mile down a long stretch of road to buy some shopping, there was a little girl of around 9-11 who used to follow me there and back. She loved to talk also, and though I could understand jack of what she said, it was nice.
There will always be people who hate whites, just as there will always be people who hate blacks. There's no point in falling for this "We'll make the world a better place" crap, cos no matter how many people you talk round/pay off/administer a good kicking to, you can't be everywhere at once, so racism will emerge when you're not. It's one of those facts that pains me to post, but hey, it's true guys.
