I'm new to the D&D system, so i'm not familiar witht he weapon system.
Can someone please explain how it works? For examples: 1. Which weapon is better: 1d4 or 2d4? 2. Which weapon is better: 2d6 vs. 1d10? |

same as 1d4, it means a range from 1 to 4 so which one do you think is better? |

Ok...
The 'd' is for dice... a weapon with 1d4 can make min. 1 damage and max. 4 a weapon with 2d4 rolls two dices an can make min. 2 damage and max. 8 Therefor a weapon with 2d4 is better than one with 1d8. The first have min. 2 damage and a better chanse to get high added results. 1. 2d4 is better. 2. 2d6 is better ------------------ May Helm smile upon thee.. |

dont go dissing d8.
min on d8 : 1 max:8 mon on 2d4: 2 max: 8 now lets look at odds. odds of getting 8 on d8. 1/8 odds of getting 8 on 2d4 1/16. so you have a better chance of getting max dam on a d8. but equal chance getting min dam. a 2d4 will give you better average results than a d8 but a d8 gives greater chance of max dam ------------------ Master Of Sorcery... Not particularly. For newbies, think of it like this:
Take 2D6 The minimum is 2 (on the left) and the maximum is 12 (or 2*6). |

I personelly think a 2d6 is better then a 1d12
But think about it an averige vor a 1d12 is 6.5 the averige of a 2d6 is 7 Thus a 2d6 is better But not only that it's more consistant And the mininum of a 1d12 is 1 and 2d6 is 2 ------------------ The Legend Rikard T'Aranaxz Master Necromancer Clanmaster and Mental Father of the OHF |

Im with Rikard on that. I prefer a good average damage rather than a damage with more high/low variances.
