Does anyone know if there are any known problems with BG2 and windows 2000? I have windows 2000 and BG2 often just closes and sends me straight to my desktop. with no warning or error messages when it happens. I had windows 98 previously, and I didn't experience any crashes, at least none that I can remember. Just wondering if anyone has any input. Thanks!

I hear a lot about people crashing in this game, but nobody has ever specified an operating system. I also use Windows ME and have the same problems. It may not be OS sensitive, but who knows. I've thought of polling people with crash problems in the forums, but never got around to it. Keep in mind that the game must have been developed on W98, so I would certainly expect some OS problems.

On Windows2kPro, you need to remember it's not made for gaming. For me, the games run slightly quicker as it's inherent in the NT-based architechure, but at the expense of background services, lag times from hell, and so on. Try making sure you have nothing else going on in the Task Manager, the most up to date drivers for your vid card. Also maybe try dl'ing DirectX 8.0 from Microsoft's website. I know the game is OpenGL based, but it can't hurt considering the game puts DX70 on there anyway.
