Once again, Icelanders prove they are insane. For the past week there has been an pricewar between to storechains here, one of them claiming always to have the lowest prices and the other trying to out do them... well on thursday the rival started selling the milkpot for 1 krona, which is $0.016... or practicly nothing. So what did the other storechain do? started giving the milk away... for free!
Only catch was that each customer only got to take 3 pots max. Most other stuff in the stores is also on really low prices, not sure what coke usually costs in other countries, but now they sell 2 liter for 50krons about 0.90$... It's just ridiculous... I mean okey I sometimes complain about high prices here, but I'm sure that this is just a bubble that is going to burst soon and then the customers will really have to pay. |

I think it's more the (soon to be ex-)employees, shareholders and suppliers suffering, rather than the consumers. There's been a price war raging for well over a year and a half here in the Netherlands now, and though I don't think they go that nuts, it seems to be the general picture.

Yeah, there's a pricewar going on here too for quite some time now. But don't think for one minute that they're doing themselves short or anything, they still make profit, otherwise they'd seize to exist. This only proves how much they have been overpricing their products all these years, without any real complaints from us the customers. So now they want us all to go nuts about their low prices, but i'd rather go nuts about how they have been robbing us all this time.
Not sure where the Krone stands compared with the €, but overhere i get my bottles of Coke for 85 cent, so that's reasonable. Especially compared to where i did my shopping before i lived here, where the same bottle of Coke cost me 1,35€ (both prices do not include the 25 cent you receive when returning the empty bottle)

Well, careful that those low low prices don't end up costing your country it's jobs .
