Once you have killed the "Elemental Lich" and the "Shade Lich", you take the golden parts you receive to Kangaxx. After giving them to him, you will have to fight his first form, and then the Harder Demilich form. When you defeat it, you get the Ring of Gaxx, which is the best ring in the game.

In the foul darkness one figure will emerge to save the world from evil and despair.... Light flashes as his sword comes down, and thunder rolls through the sky when he points his sword up to heaven to signal his victory....People whisper his name as he walks by, evil tries to hide as they sense his presence nearby.... His name? Link......

the snares is a good way, but considered massive cheese and it really does you no good as you dont learn anything from it. i prefer to use a good mix of weaponry and magic when i take them on, with a few summoned creatures thrown in.

Welcome, Trunks
.
Traps don't net you the xp. If you want cheese, how about this (from the journals of Lord Raptor, evil chicken avenger
.
.
High-level Viconia controls the lich
Lord Raptor (F/M/T) hides in shadows
BACKSTAB
Lich goes hostile
Viconia re-controls lich
repeat

How about just letting the traps soften the LICH up and then finish him off...that way there should stille be exp. in the battle

The problem with that is knowing how many traps to lay and hoping that he does actually walk into all of them.

Since when don't traps give you xp? Just with Liches? I'm confused. It was nice getting 8k (or was it 9k) for each lousy mindflayer that walked into my hall-o-traps in the sewers.

...or maybe that was mazzy finishing them off with phantom arrows. i didn't notice now that i think of it. So what's the deal with traps?

The easiest way to kill ANY undead in the game is with PROTECTION FROM UNDEAD scrolls. The lich or vampire can't even see you, you can just walk up and attack without it fighting back, using spells, etc. So just send one person in with magic weapons and under protection from undead, and kill them. Thats the quick, easy, cheesy way.
The actually fighting way, is to send some summoned monsters first at them, so their death spells, finger of death, etc etc are used up. Send one or 2 at a time so a group of them doesn't get caught in a area spell. Keep back while your summoned monsters soften up their spells some. Once you are out of summoned monsters, Have your mage head up and cast some protection-reducing spells such as breach, warding whip, pierce magic. To get his defenses down. Then have your guys power up and hit him full speed.

Beware, liches can summon demons and genies. I usually hang back since usually a summoned demon usually attacks the lich if you aren't close.

Now, some items that seem to really work great on liches even through shields. Daystar hurts them bad (unless they have a fire shield up), most of the time about 40 damage or so, once in a while you'll get luck and do up to 1000+ damage to it (where that comes from i don't know). Also RINGS of the RAM can batter down a lich easy also. I suggest using a mage to lower some defenses, then hit it with daystar and RINGS of the RAM, then full out attack to finish them up.

Lastly, if you want, you can try and damage the lich before it casts its protection spells. Usually you can only do this with fast weapons with 0 or 1 delay time. Daggers, etc. Have your party surrounding the lich when it starts to appear, then once it appears have everyone attack it. You might get lucky and do some damage with your fast reaction time weapons before its protection spells go up. I only did this once, so I know you can do it, but it doesn't work most of the time.

With heartfelt apologies to Paul Simon.

(Sung approximately to the tune of "Fifty Ways To Leave Your Lover," but with some liberties taken with the phrasing)

In old Athkatla in a house down by the dock
Lies an undead necromancer with a death trap on his lock.
If you should meet him you'll be soon deep down in rock
Sent by the Demi-Lich that they call Kangaxx.

If you're a brave one and your weapons are +4
And you've found the golden remains from the other tombs before:
With luck and skill you won't end up at Toril's core.
There must be fifty ways to kill your Kangaxx...
...Fifty ways to kill your Kangaxx.

So don't forget to pocket pick, Rick,
When he's just a plain lich, Mitch,
You'll get two Rings of Gaxx, Max,
Wear cumulatively.

You'll just get one to start, Bart.
And when the first lich is slain, Jane
He'll go to Demi-Lich state, Nate:
Act immediately.

Read your Protection from Magic, Vajic,
Or all read Scrolls of Undead, Fred,
But not until he's gone Demi, Remi,
Or he won't talk to thee.

Summon up a Wizard Eye, Guy;
Kangaxx can't imprison that, Matt.
Cast yourself a Spell Immune, June,
Abjuration's the key.

What sort of weapons does it take to fell this foe
Who's survived without a challenge since centuries ago?
Are they expensive and where do you have to go...
...To get rid of Kangaxx?

Some tools are pricey; perhaps you have no cash to spare
And you can't shoplift from Ribald as the Amnish Guard is there.
With all your abilities it doesn't seem unfair
To have a cheaper way of killing Kangaxx...
...Cheaper way of killing Kangaxx...

Wield the Improved Disrupting Mace, Grace,
Or the Sling of Everard, Gerrard,
You could use the Staff Of Rynn, Lynn,
Better than +3.

Knock him down with Crom Faeyr, Blair,
Or the Magi's Stave, Dave,
Could try the Withering Spear, Keir,
To kill him expensively.

But, the Carsomyr sword, Gord,
Soulreaver from the Demon Knight, Dwight,
Cutthroat from the tomb of Bodhi, Cody:
Can be had for free.

So make all the snares you can, Dan,
And every Fire Elemental, Yentl.
Get Hasted and Berserk, Kirk,
For 55K X.P.
