Well you lot are always blabbering on about needing new posts so i thought i'd randomly open another.

Ive started Iwd2 with a Magical class party (sort of) consisting of

A monk (they are a bit weird and magical)
Wizard
Sorcerer
Druid
Cleric
Bard

I.E No Major Fighters(though the monk aint bad)
I dont like dual / multi-classing,paladins and specialist mages in general but dont hold that against me!

Im also not resting till absolutely needed - im almost at shaerngarne bridge without resting. That probably doesnt sound impressive to you pro's but it is to me .
When i think about it though its not that hard since you can 'abuse' the local healers in the area. The girl who has the moonblade heals me for 1 gp which aint bad. Then theres the guy in the tent who heals for free...

So - Obviously when they run out of spells and I refuse to rest im gonna get into trouble where theres no healing; basicallly have you lot got any tips i could use using these characters most effectively?

(P.s Dont ask why i chose a magical party when refusing to rest)

What do you mean, haven't rested? Your party still bears wounds from defending Targos and your mages haven't had a break yet this game? If so, wow, though I think you mean something else.

The party looks good, though will die to a swarm of powerful enemies. Make sure to give your monk lots of armor boosting items. I know you don't like multi classing, but (assuming they are human) adding four levels of fighter onto your cleric and druid, or just one of them, will make them very nice tanks. In fact, I've fount that a straight dwarven fighter is only slightly more powerful than a human fighter4/cleric, and the cleric gets spell. just make sure that the cleric has reasonable stat points, or this may be a waste.

You bard looks rather pointless. Bards are useful for melee parties, and don't have much of a point here. You have no thief, which is a problem for later in the game. A straight thief or even a half thief may be a waste of thieving ability, as locks are easy in this game. a powerful character that I concieved is:

Drow thief1/magex

STR 11
DEX 20
CON 16
INT 20
WIS 10
CHA 5

The initial thief level, plus 20 in DEX and INT, gives all the thieving ability that you need for the game (carry around potions of master thievery, just in case). Once you multi-class over, your drow mage will be very powerful and can stealth. However, this may not be the best choice for aa party of 6, as Drow have a heavy xp penalty.

I don't think this merits a spoiler but just in case:

~

There MIGHT be a certain sword that MIGHT be only for paladins and MIGHT rule the world, especially on HoF

~

end spoiler

I personally don't like druids, and I would use a paladin or fighter/paladin in that slot, but thats your choice.

In conclusion, you don't have to folow my little rant, though I think you will be happier if you at least try some of my advice. Good luck!

Oh, and not resting will eventually incure fatigue penalties. This means that you will aquire -1 to hit etc etc. Resting is not a big deal in this game. I understand that it is more fun to see how far you can get with little to no spells left though.

Have fun

Druids have great spells, but the thing about them is that they're offensive, and kinda hard to use with the shapeshifts...
I had an all-spellcaster party just before the one I'm having now, which is an all-melee party. Well, the game was very fun for the first 10-12 levels, but it got a bit boring when I hit level 13, and enemies just started falling around me without even coming near me. Then a few things put some more life into it, like a certain Lich, and a few other mass battles with mages.
Point is, they can get some real powerfull and mutially complemental spells and abilities, just be wise. And maybe it would be a good idea to dual the monk to paladin and hold it 1:2 in favor for the monk.

Marty, remember at the start there are like at least 2 people who heal amazingly and if u abuse them it aint that hard.
For thief skills i think im sharing skills between bard, druid and wizard.
Good point otherwise about the bard though,i dont use him much - except - he has 20 charisma (he's some kind of elf/human-god breed or something) which i use for all the chit chat. So theres one purpose he has .
The uh bard song is pretty cool too.
As for the fatigue, it looks like that when that kicks in i will defo have to rest.
Hmm, i suppose i could consider multi-classing the monk to a paladin :/

You bard is an aasimir? Ok, that is a good start. However, your sorcerer should also have 20 CHA (as would an effctive paladin), and the bard song, while useful, is only helping one of your party members.

Fatigue is a killer. I remember when I played IWD1, I had failed a pickpocket on oswald after journeying for a week without rest. When he attacked me, I fought back for fun with my thief. I couldn't beat him! my thief had a whopping -17 to hit (fatigue stacks). Yeesh.

Edit: I will add that four fighter levels on your cleric may not be in your best intrests, since you are running a 6 person party. As long as your cleric has high combat stats, they will be fine.

I'm curious to know what god your cleric follows. Some are better than others, and I can advise on which one you should pick.

My cleric? God he follows? Well, that would be telling now wouldnt it.

He's follows Talos The Mighty Stormlord

I picked that god cause he sounded nice and mean which followed with my idea of almighty offensive spellcasters.
His stats are Str 16 Dex 10 Con 15 Int 10 Wis 18 Char 8

There ya go

Talos is among the best, though I prefer Lathander. Both get great domain spells, though I like Good clerics for holy word and holy smite (Blasphemy and Unholy Blight aren't very useful in this game). Your cleric has okay combat stats, though I would have dropped Int a bit. My recent fighter4/cleric was

STR 18
DEX 12
CON 18
INT 6
WIS 18
CHA 4

If you like using Talos's powerful lightning spells, consider taking the feat for storm mastery (I forget the name, similar to Spirit of Flame and Aegis of Rime) You need 10 spellcraft to do this.

Other good clerics are Dreadmaster of Bane for superior wisdom, and Battlegaurd of Tempus for starting with WF in axes.

I never rest unless my character have fatigue, it's more realistic.
