Turin

The man gulped in surprise at the speed of this fiery old woman. He tried to compose himself and say:

"Yes...well...I have been sent by one named Elros in search of a lady by the name of Ardana. And I was promised we'd be well received. You wouldn't happen to know either of them, would you?"

For Turin and the others behind him:

Her hand did not release the knife, neither was the pressure of the knife lessened on Turin's throat.

"I might know this Ardana. Why do you want to see her?" - she asked with a sudden sly look appearing in her eyes.

"If you are not her, then you have no business knowing what she needs to know. Now madam...put down your knife. If you slay me you will fall just as fast as I to the ground, for I have armed alies hidden and watching us. You know how well an elf can hit his mark."

"It seems you do not want to tell me and thus we have not business with each other. Begone!" - she withdrew the knife and with her other hand slammed the door shut. A key could be heard turning in the lock.

He turned around to the others, while rubbing at his throat, then shrugged his shoulders.

He never figured out from that conversation whether or not this was the one they were looking for. If it had been, then would she not have recoginized the name Elros? He shook his head, in frustration. Kalam was dying, and they still had nothing. He looked up at his allies in hopes that somebody had some input.

Therlion listened in on the words, and when he saw Turin turn away from the door, he walked up to him, and put a reasurring hand on his shoulder "Let me try." He came up to the door and knocked once, twice. With no response from inside, he started talking. He expected the words to have some effect on the woman inside, from what he learned of her. "We need help. Your help. A young man is in need of assistance, and only you can provide it. It is a man named Kalam. Kalam Easthome."

For Turin and Therlion:

The sound of moving feet stopped abruptly inside the door as soon as the name Easthome was pronounced. The door then swung open suddenly and the woman looked deep into the eyes of Therlion.

"I thought that elves did not associate themselves with men as evil as the Easthomes. If this Kalam has come to gloat over the misery his family has tossed me into tell him he can leave without hassling me."

"The Easthomes are evil, yes. But Kalam is here to change it. He was wounded in battle against his father's soldiers, and now needs your help." he looked back into the woman's eyes, with a face and a tone of profound meaning, he continued "Only you can help him. Help us in ridding the world of the evil Easthomes."

"I am no healer. And besides I have no intention to help an Easthome unless one of them helps me."
