I went into IWD2 this morning expecting to be able to import my IWD party. I was a bit surprised to find out that I could not do that. Now I have to create an all new party. Its a bummer. I saw several premade parties but doubt if I will use them. I think I am getting carpal tunnel from all this rerolling. Just an update on current progress.

Just try out a few characters and see what you like. That's what I'm in the process of doing. It takes a little while to get used to the skills and feats, etc.

I've recently started a few threads there, because I didn't quite know what I was doing; take a look at them, there's some good advice, although none of it mine.

There's no rerolling in IWD2. You have a set amount of points to allocate as you like. The bonuses are different than in IWD. For example, a STR=13 get +1 to hit & damage in IWD2, but you need STR=17 for the same effect in IWD/HOW.

In IWD2, clerics & druids rule the realm.

Don't touch the premade parties. Not only does taking one take out all the fun of making characters, but they are so bad that they make me want to puke.

I really don't like premade parties. It is like taking over someone elses game and finishing it for them. Good or bad I like to make my own and live with the choices.

Boy that stinks. I wonder why they don't let you reroll a character? All that does is make it take longer to create one you want to keep. If you don't get the stats you want you can still delete them can't you?

[/QUOTE]In IWD2, every character starts with same total attribute points, not including racial bonuses. I think the default total is 76 (60 base +16 additional). You also get 1 additional point every 4 levels to put in whatever attribute you want to improve. Although this seems low, the bonus system makes 76 IWD2 points more like 90 IWD/HOW points, though the two scales are not exactly comparable:

IWD2
STR: 12 (+1 to hit/damage)
DEX: 12 (+1 AC dodge bonus, missle bonus, Reflex Saves)
CON: 12 (+1 HP, +1 Fortitude Saves)
INT: 12 (+1 skills, arcane lore, alchemy, find traps)
WIS: 12 (+1 wilderness lore, +1 Will Saves)
CHA: 12 (+1 diplomacy, bluff, intimidate)

IWD/HOW
STR: 17 (+1 to hit/damage)
DEX: 15 (+1 AC, missle)
CON: 15 (+1 HP)
INT: 15 (lore bonus)
WIS: 15 (+1 Saves against magic, lore bonus)
CHA: 13 (+1 reaction adjustment)

So it is balanced out in comparison. I was thinking it was different when I first read the post. Maybe after Thanksgiving I will give it a try then.

BTW Happy Turkey Day Y'all!
