Been listening to a lot of music recently, a lot more than normal(which is a LOT) and I was thinking how music has an effect on people especially those with really meaningful and powerful lyrics and stuff...
So what are yours? I dunno if it would be appropriate to post all the lyrics or just the title or a link to the lyrics...dont wanna make any mods mad at me. I'm not sure of my own yet...but i'll think about it and get back to ya. Felix [ 05-12-2003, 04:43 PM: Message edited by: FelixJaeger ] |

I find differant bands and their lyrics entertaining and inspiring.
The three bands/artists that I want to highlight are Creed, D12/Eminem and Tenacious D. Tenacious D because their lyrics are so damn funny, nonsencical and... its the way they that they bring it together with their music that I find the most impressive. Creed because they speak out against many of the problems todays society is faced with and talk about other issues, they may be a little bit too heavy with "spreading the word of God" theme in some of their songs but usually their tunes are stuff that gets you riled up about something, sad about another aspect of life and happy with yet another part of life. An underrated ban IMO. D12/Eminem because they're lyrics are reality. Ok, maybe thats a slight exaggeration but despite the fact that they are often targeted by various organisations for spreading certain unsuitable messages to kids around the world they don't appriciate the fact that D12 are reflecting real life in their lyrics. Like they say, they're trying to convey an image of what life is really like..."Whats the point in sugarcoating it and pretending it's gonna go away?" they ask. I agree, their unique style of protest against these issues is why I am a fan of their lyrics and songs. Is this the sort of thing you want in your thread Felix? |

Well I'm not sure how I can explain this, but alot of Christian bands I listen to I can relate certain things. I'm really not sure how to explain this , but I can try. Meh I won't try at all. But the lyrics of lots of songs get through to me, like Creed's song "Signs" or "With Arms Wide Open." I listen to sad,Christian, and humorous(Like Weird Al or Tenacious D, ) when I'm really sad to try and cheer me up.
Example of a song: DC Talk's "What Have We Become?" a preacher shuns his brother cuz his bride's a different color and this is not acceptable his papa taught him so it was love that he'd be preachin but this was overreachin' the boundaries stretchin' farther than his heart would choose to go like an angel with no wings like a kingdom with no king what have we become a self indulgent people what have we become tell me where the righteous ones what have we become in a world degenerating what have become And if you need help with lyrics go to www.letssingit.com [ 05-12-2003, 09:52 PM: Message edited by: SomeGuy ]

Ok, this post is very telling of the era of music I listen to, Azred can attest to this for sure. Everytime he has to turn the volume down of the car stereo when he gets in the car. I usually have Prince, Def Leopard, or Aerosmith blaring. I love the lyrics to the 80's, especially these bands, because they are so sexual, yet they dont' come out and say it directly. The good ol' days when you knew people were talking about sex and showing it, but you didn't have young girls bouncing their booty in the camera, if you know what I mean. I really don't think that Azred likes my choice of music, but he puts up with it. I will always be a child of the 80's. Go 80's! You rock!

This is a song that i listend to for about a year like at least 4 or 5 times a day. It just made me feel better when i listen to it. Made me feel like people couldn't bring me down for being me.
Anger inside builds within my body Why'd you hit me? What have I done? You tried to hit me! -The pain will begin, if you like [Do you want me to begin, if you like] Throw your hate at me with all your might Hit me 'cause I'm strange, hit me! You tell me I'm a p**** and you're harder than me What's with you boy? Think hard. A tattooed body to hide who you are Scared to be honest, be yourself A cowardly man! I don't run around trying to be what's not within me Look into my eyes, I am free You're just a wanna-be To come out Hit me clown because I'm not from your town, now hit me clown Clown you ain't shit. Turn around and get your face split. I'm just too f*****g little! I'm just a f*****g mental!
