Welcome to the board Chi Master. I´d have to say the mantraps since they´re awesome ranged fighters and you meet them so early in the game.

NO... It's got to be...Erathsmedor...LOL..(Just kidding Wyv. )
I agree with Willow. My first time through the game....I had a real hard time with the room full of Lilies that guard the exists to the booger prison.....Spells would fizzle...mana would run out...and I couldn't move fast enough to Bash em....A whole lot of 'Die and Try again'.

Welcome to the boards, chi master. May your journey through the Gael Serran be enjoyable, enlightening, and entertaining.
IMHO, the salads are the hardest monsters, based on where you meet them and what they can do to you. But for the hardest monsters to kill, I'd go for a couple that you're not really supposed to kill -- the leprechaun and Oakenmir. The leprechaun makes the list because the daft git keeps running away (or sending you away). Hours of "Come here so I can hit you" are the result. Oakenmir is on there because it takes so bloody long to take him out. If you have a low-level party, you're toast long before he knows he's scratched. With a high level party (mine was about level 50 the only time I took him out), you get to enjoy the extra friends he brings along, but you can still get wasted away. Note that I don't endorse wiping Oakenmir or other NPC-type monsters. I prefer to strike only when struck.

Welcome to the board, chi master!!!
Sebastio is the most deadly. He can bore your group to death with a single quest! (okay, enough of my Sebastio shots for this post) I think the Mantraps were the hardest/strongest in relationship to character development and where you first meet them. Cet didn't seem nearly as difficult as that first group of mantraps! Wyv |

I'd have to say the Amazoni Mantraps/Lilly Plants. They have a lot of hp, and deliver a ton of damage from their poisonous breath. Poison seems to be the deadliest attack form in this game, and the type they use is especially bad. It's not Deadly Vapors; it's some special version that automatically hits (even if you run out of the cloud) and, I suspect, lowers your resistance to it. The gas hits hard.
On the plus side, the plants are very vulnerable to Sun spells--any kind of fire will work well with them. [ 07-21-2002, 12:47 PM: Message edited by: Asmodeus ]

The mantraps, especially if they follow you to the gates, see my story in the Boogre bar. The jungle lillies in the Boogre cave were much easier because you could back around a corner & they could only attack you one at a time. They are easy to kill with a group attack because they dont use that nasty ranged attack.

The Naga perhaps? But I´ve never considered her a tough opponent since you can kill her in 1min in hand to hand, the out of range trick. Otherwise it´s a pretty well balanced game, although Elyssia and her priests can sometimes prove very difficult...
