I don't know, Minsc does have some interesting conversations at times with your party members and npc's, and is quite good as a fighter( i mean ranger), but there are also plenty other fighters available to you throughout the game.
i use mincs cos i'm sortof "loyal to BG1 since i had him during bg1...he's grown on me!  ------------------ Yes indeed... |

To be perfectly honest, I preferred Korgan. Some people preferred Valygar as a Ranger. If you think he's annoying, give him the talking 2-h sword, THEN see what happens (hee hee)

If you check in the Information slot on Minsc, and compare his kills with everyone else's, you are likely to find that he kills more enemies than anyone else. He is well worth keeping! Even if you have no BGI loyalty to him!

If you really want to know who is the best NPC, just make them together.

Depend on who is in my current party, if my current party already has couple of tanks, I keep Edwin; if it already have spell casters, I'd keep Minsc.

Also on alignment. I didn't put Edwin i nmy godd party, or Minsc in my evil party. My neutral party had neither of them
