Can i make a new character from scratch and import him into my current game of baldurs gate 2 ? e.g make a new Mage, and them import him in, say swap him for a different character??? tankya....

In theory YES, but only if you are playing a multi-player game. There should be other ways by means of "game enhancement" utilities, but I'll leave that to someone else.

just take the program Shadow Keeper and hack your character ... in a solo game, I don't know how to swap a character ..
