Due to the weather this years vintage promises to be excellent. If this holds true we could have some excellent wine coming up (European at least). It's been a while since we had a great vintage.

bah! I prefer California wines

especially since there are dozens of world-class wineries within 30 miles of my home

Michigan also makes some great wines! I'm a little different, I seem to have a taste for cherry wine. Very tart, and very strong. Mmmmmmmmmmm! Outside of that, I like a good Riesling for general dinner wine. White Zinfandel is OK, but a bit overrated and overdrank, in my opinion. Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio are OK, but a bit dry in my opinion. Toad Hollow is a good one. Merlot goes great with roast beef or chicken, but that's about all it's good for.

'White Zinfandel' is neither White nor a Zinfandel Some would argue that it is not even a wine

I'm not arguing that European wines are better than others. In fact I prefer Chilean wines over anything else. But due to the weather this European vintage will be better than usual.

Oh and johnny,
Chili has been making some great wines the last few years.

What Euro vintages do you recommend for this? What to keep my eyes open for them.

If you like real (ie red) zinafindal look for a California winery called Ravenswood. They make some kickin Zins

It's still a favorite of wine drinkers at bars. It's just one of your basic fresh, young, semi-sweet, blush wines. They've been around forever and not really meant to be savored or unique in flavor. They're just meant to be drunk in quantity with reckless abandon at parties or summer outings! (in other words, cheap and common, but not necessarily bad)

You should give some Canadian Wines a chance Willow.

Nothing better than Bakeapple wine.

I have to disagree with you. White Zinfandel is my favorite wine. I don't like wines that are too dry. Actually, wine is just about the only alcoholid drink I consume. I hate beer. I hope Johnny didn't hear that.
