I'll upgrade sooner or later..might wait a while and see what kind of feedback it gets, and until the kinks are worked out.

Wow, if that's true, I'm sold. Being able to use all my programs again without jury-rigging and half-assed solutions will be worth finding the money for a copy of Win 7. 'Course I'm still going to wait out the initial month or three to see what kind of bugs crop up, but the wait time has been shortened considerably. (Which was initially, "whenever I decide to buy a new computer.")

I'll stick with XP for now, got Vista on my laptop, but to be honest...it's crap. As long as there's no real need for any updating, i see no reason to do it.

XP works fine for me. When I get a new machine, and that'll be a while, I'll get 7 on it. The little bit I've worked with Vista convinced me I can skip it & not miss anything...

I'll probby get a Win 7 machine next year. I don't mind Vista, it improved with it's service packs. Works great for a media center PC.

Hi,
I bought a new PC last week. It has Vista loaded on it, but had a free upgrade offer from HP with it. I have sent it off and I'm for Win 7 to arrive before I do anything with the new one.

I think I will miss XP, but will see.

Which is the reason why I didn't get vista. Too much trouble.

I was hoping we can install our older games and play straight away without using 3rd party programs (emulators, dosbox, act20 etc etc).

Reason for not buying a laptop this year was that they only came in Vista flavour. When Windows 7 is debugged, middle of next year say, then I will be buying. But I see no reason to replace XP on my PC.

Missing out on the whole Vista thing has not been a problem in the slightest.

Got a break from Verizon when I got their 3-in-one phone/satellite/internet deal, they're giving me a free netbook, or $300 off a new PC or laptop (my choice), on top of the discount I get as a gov't employee, I have some room to get a decent machine and tweak it, with the new OS as well.
