Okay this might be a stupid answer to it but here goes nothing.
After you've installed the software and restarted with the scanner plugged in (Is it a USB scanner???), if it doesn't recognise it go to contgrol panel and to instal new hardware wizard. You might be lucky enough and the computer will find it after a search. I had a similar problem with my CD Burner. Best of luck with it! |

That's okay......
Just go to Start/Settings/Control Panel and then to Add new hardware. Let your computer do a search for any new hardware that might be installed on your machine and hopefully it will find it. |

Nothing that I know of really. I'd check for updated software if necessary or plug and unplug it while the comp is still on (although that isn't always a good idea with USB hardware)
Another thing you could try is maybe find the drivers for the scanner online, un-instal what you just installed and instal the scanner first regardless of what it says. All the software does anyway is instal your scanners drivers as well but if your comp isn't recongnising the scanner itself then it's not leaving you many options. |

I'll have a look and see if I can find any updated software for you. Don't know if it will help but unless anyone else has any ideas we can at least try.
