Well, since this is the forum for all those old CRPGs that are collecting dust in your attic/basement/closet/trunk, let's ask these all-important questions:
What is the first CRPG you ever played? When did you first play it? *************** Since I asked it first, I'll answer it first. The earliest ones I remember playing are Temple of Apshai and some other game (the name of which escapes me now, but the cover had a picture of Stonehenge--which may have been the name of the game itself) back in 1984. Most of you have probably never heard of those, so I'll throw out another one that you might recall: Bard's Tale in 1985. Oh, the days of the good ol' C-64....

Can't remember what my first CRPG was -- it was either Apshai, Ultima 2, or Telenguard - but it also was on a C64 ( remember POKE 808,225? )

Probably Ultima 7. Actually I would love to play that again, it was a fabulous game.
Unless something like Monkey Island would be classed as an RPG? You're kind of role-playing Guybrush lol

Now Telengard I remember. That was the first game for which I tried to edit the code (making the hit point counter add instead of subtracting). Good ol' poke, peek, and--what was it?--run "program",8,1.

Chaos Strikes Back on my Atari ST, wow those Sleepless nights.
My friend bought a Atari and got like 700 diskettes with it and we were going through the "PILE!!!" sorting out the interesting stuff from all the trash... (a 5/95 ratio...) and there was this game which I played completely to death... But the first one on a PC was Elderscrolls Arena |

Ultima 3 was my first RPG, on a powerful apple IIe
Funny thing i still remember buying this game after reading a review in popular mechanics (at the time not many magazines talk about computers, and much less about computer games), anyway, in the review they describe the game as 'a living tapestry' that little line its to blame for a lifetime of playing computer rpg's.
