Four years ago, my partner was messing around on the PC, and found that annoying card game Freecell. The Windows 98 version of Freecell has 32,000 different card layouts. You can select which card layout you want to play. There is also a the message in the Helpfile "It is believed (although not proven) that every game is winnable"

In a moment of insanity, this challenge was accepted.

To play, and beat, all 32,000 games of Freecell, in order.

Yesterday, she reached game 10,000. Her Freecell skills are now honed to the point that the average games takes no longer than 3 minutes to complete.

I don't think she knows that the Freecell in Windows XP has 1,000,000 card layouts !!

LOL, I once started doing the same thing (on my old PC), but I was too focussed on keeping a near-perfect score. That meant I could never play a game just for fun or to relax because you need to concentrate in order to beat the game in one try. But maximum respect to her for persevering! Tell her good luck and keep it up.

The cat is out the bag ... she just came into the study and read the post as I was reviewing it.

Her response? 15 seconds of silence, then ....
" I wonder if the first 32,000 games of Freecell in XP are the same as the games in 98? "

My success rate at Freecell is around 86%. That is, I win 86% of the time. I think it's actually higher if you take recent games into account more; I've got some 4,000 games under my belt.

But nothing compared to your roommate... wowza

*edit* strike that... just about 2500 games, not 4000. I'm not as prolific as I remember...
