Make sure when you startup your PC that the screen says 128mb for your card memory. If so, then I'd change nothing. If the card is an AGP card that should be fine.
An fx5200 won't let you run NWN's with everything maxed, nor will most cards except the newer and costly ones. I'd avoid the ATI, Nvidia is a better card and ATI is not really compatible with NWN's. My fx 5200 plays NWN's fine with the right tweaking..(an fps of about 50/60) I wouldn't waste money on anything dearer for one game.

This game is a performance eater..I have yet to find a game like it and considering the fact that it was made 2 years (or so) ago it really is demanding on performance. While playing hit the tilde '~' and type 'trace fps' and hit enter. Here you will see your average fps for NWN's.

Isn't there a button that you can press that pauses the startup screen? I used it on my old one ages ago but I can't remember what it was...

To enter the bios usually It's F12. Like I said you can see if the memory is detected correctly when you first startup the system it should say 128mb Nvidia corp or sommat to that end without having to enter the bios, you just need to watch for it. I say this cuz my Fx5200 was not detected properly at first.

Oh, and one reason I avoid Radeons is that SpellForce has MAJOR issues with Radeons for some reason...but I will buy a Radeon if a Radeon model happens to be better cost wise and does what I want it to .

Cheers guys!!

EDIT: Spelling...
What exactly is your computer? There are limits to what a video card alone can do.

ATI Radeon cards are much preferable to GeForce cards at the moment. The reason being that the latest GeForce generation runs terribly with DirectX 9, which is what almost all new games use. I'd personally go with a Radeon card even if this wasn't the case, since they're generally cheaper.

As I've said before, power comes second to stability and compatability, and im my experience and especialy where NWN in concerned, that means a geforce.

Radeons seem to have a lot of compatibility issues...with SpellForce too. I'm always hearing stories about incompatibility with Radeon cards, and GeForce has always worked for me...

Slicer, the problem isn't your card. I run NWN with SoU and HotU installed, on an FX5200 (the 128mb MSI version) and I have no lag problems at all. (Win98SE, 256mb ram, 1.2ghz AMD)

Check your config, disable everything - except your virus scanner, and if you have a constant internet connection your firewall. Make sure stuff like ICQ or MSN are shutdown.
