Anyone pick it up? I am kinda shocked I am the first one to post about it--I finished it 2 weeks ago, and I'll just say that it's a great read, and the next one won't be out till Oct 2003!!!!! Argh! It's got all the Companions of the Hall in it, and the gutbusters! Love them. As well as Pikle and... forget the other dwarf.. (doo-dad guys)

I just picked up the new paperback novel by Troy Denning 'The Sorcerer' it's the next book in the 'Return of the Archwizards' Series.

Just started it... I'll post thoughts when I am done.

I am waiting for Insurrection (Drow Series) that will be out Nov 22nd I think.

Nah you're not I actually mentioned A Thousand Orcs a couple of times in the R A Salvatore books about Drizzt and others thread.

Found it great, I like the gutbusters, Ivan & Pikel, and the 2 new characters (Pegasus-riding moon elf couple),... The only ones missing are Cadderly and Danica.

Insurrection (War of the Spider Queen Series ?): According to www.rasalvatore.com, it is out in one week, but it is not written by Bob himself is it ?

Never heard of Troy Denning and the 'Return of Archwizards' series though.

Na, Salvatore is just the editor and story consultant for the WotSQs). I REALLY enjoyed the 1st book..

I wish A Thousand Orcs was more than 350+- pages for ONCE. Read it in 4 nights. and now I gotta wait a WHOLE YEAR! boohoo!

It would be cool if Salvatore wrote a book with as many pages as the last Harry Potter book had--1000+ pages I think! I never want it to end..

I am very behind on the Drizzt books, but that is on purpose. I like to wait for a series to finish before I start reading, so that I don't have to wait a year or more for the next part. A few years ago, I read the Icewind Dale and Dark Elf series when a friend let me borrow them. Recently, I bout them as the collectors editions and also bought the Legacy of the Drow hardcover. I started back at the beginning to refresh my memory. This is the way I like it-- I have 10 books to read now.
Does this new series follow after Passage to Dawn? Or am I missing a book somewhere?

Yep you are missing 4 books unless I am mistaken:

Passage to Dawn
The Silent Blade
Spine Of The World (Paths of Darkness 1)
Servant of The Shard (Paths of Darkness 2)
Sea Of Swords (Paths of Darkness 3)
A Thousand Orcs (The Hunter's Blade 1)

Im only 1/4 into it, so I can't say much. On an objective level, it has been so far, just more of the same, however with quality characters like Salvatores more of the same can be considered a good thing

If they are the same dwarven brother i think you are tlaking about they were actually from another series of books staring Caderly a scholerly cleric and Danica his g/f type who was a monk if i remember correctly. That series was a good read, though like most things I forget the name of it. Anyway the series has 5 books in it and it is pretty good. i will post the names of them on here tomorrow or the next day when i remember and I am at home with my fantasy novel collection.

just got bored so i looked it up on amazon, you got to love the internet age, anyway the first book is called canticle and is written by, guess who? yup you guessed it, r.a. salvadore himself
EDIT: the series is called the clerical quintet, for those of you not good with numbers that means 5 books, it is definitely a good read I have read through the entire series, though I find the ending of the last one a little disappointing, but that is just me however, it really is an excellent series.
