I am doing an "enigma" run and I have just gotten to Ulgoth's Beard. Shandalar confronts you with the fact that you killed his daughters when doing the "Halruuan Airship quest" from the thieve's guild(I did indeed kill his daughters..I have never been able to 'stealth' this quest). My comment is this,,,doesn't it strike you as odd that this mage gives you a quest??? Instead of attacking you outright?? I mean, you killed his daughters!! What is the roleplay reasoning for this?

Very valid question... I never really knew the answer, myself.

The easiest answer is that if he killed you, you wouldn't be able to go on the quest. Can't have that, the writers said, so he sends you anyway... Now the players have to justify it like we're doing here. Maybe, "Sending you there was certain death, and if by some chance you survive, he has what he needs." or something along those lines.

Loving your sig, by the way.

do not meddle in the affairs of wizards someone once said but i think the point is that their ways are not ours and their reasons are their own - more pragmatically perhaps he had his daughters resurrected so the main impact was financial - perhaps he thought it was good for them . . .
