OK, guys, feat question here. Playing my 3/1/1 Paladin/Cleric/Fighter, ready to level up. Took the fighter level to get weapon specialization (my base attack was saying 4). It wasn't available to me. Question is should I have taken a paladin level first before this? That's really the only reason I even multiclassed with the fighter was the weapon spec. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

PS. Not that anybody is worried but Callik will bother no one in my world anymore. .

You have to have 4 levels in fighter to get weapon specialization. This is new in 1.61/HotU. Before you just needed a BAB of 4 and at least one level in fighter.

Thanks, so I guess my original plan of 15/3/2 Paladin/Fighter/Cleric is about to be 11/5/4. What are people's thoughts about that?

My thoughts exactly. At low levels the experience needed to gain the next level doesn't take as long, but as you progress the experience points needed to advance will become a real issue for you. And if I am not mistaken there is 20% hit on your experience points if there is more than a level difference between your classes. Ouch!

But that doesn't apply when I take out my favored class (being human its the paladin), right? So then I keep my 5/4 self so I don't get that penalty. I may be confused. Help me ..

Yes, I believe you are correct, as long as it is your favored class. But, again, three classes are going to hurt the experience point allocation. I went with a straight cleric and have yet to regret it. 3E rules truly have made this class a lot of fun. And you can heal yourself in the process!

Yep, as long as your non-favored classes are within 1 level of each other, you will not suffer the 20% penalty.

Your character build looks fine to me. My only concern is that having 4 cleric levels will become a little redudant due to Paladin spell casting ability. Though the cleric levels do give more spells to choose from.

But with only 4 cleric levels, it doesn't make much of a difference... Though you should be able to cast Find Traps, which is handy, but is it really waorth it?
I see much waste afoot here. Paladin/Low-Level Cleric/Low-Level Fighter... Why, what is a paladin more than a glorified Fighter/Low-Level Cleric? Yes, I realize there are other abilities, but at such a low level, you shouldn't be spread so thin as you are.
Of course, this is just my advice. In the end, your own desires matter the most.

Thanks for all the help! I've been out of town. So it seems like maybe I need to make my Character more of a cleric and less of a paladin and continue to blend in some fighter along with it? Although then I lose some of the combat I need (I tend to be a hack/slash player *blush*). Maybe start maxing the fighter out and then dabble with the cleric and paladin? I know that is pretty redundant but I've gotten a couple of levels of paladin to account for. Thanks all!
