I see no one has mentioned the Enter the Matrix game yet! the bit where niobe fights the head vamps a winner any day.
and i agree with all the votes so far. shame you cant buy more of the soundtracks in good quality, instead of MP3'd

(Edit) and what about Grim Fandango?

Well actually I'd say MP3s are perfectly good enough if recorded at a high enough bit rate. Some games actually come with MP3 music for in-game (like Heroes of Might and Magic 3). I don't see the problem with MP3s - they're as good quality as you want them to be, you just adjust the encoder. It's not like you're gonna miss those extra frequencies that MP3 encoding filters out. Most probably you can't hear them in the original anyway. Also, MP3 might reduce the dynamic range but in game music that is usually also not a problem. The most noticable reduction in quality from MP3 encoding is usually with Classical music which tends to have a large dynamic range.

Hey Vaskez, I just got the whole soundtrack to BG1 on CD, whole movements too, not just little snippets. Listening to it now! I can convert them to MP3, I think, do you want them for your site? Either PM me, or email, it's in my profile.

Xenon 2 - Megablast. For the Atari ST or Amiga. It ruled.

The intro music to Supremacy was awesome too.

Yeah I've got the Megablast tune - I'll put it up when I work on my site.

While GTA-Vice City musics are very great, they existed and were already known before the game. They shouldn't count.

The best original game music ever made is the Tropico 1 and Tropico 2 (The Pirate Cove) soundtrack.
The games didnt meet a big success it seems, not a lot of people actually know the musics, but I can tell you they're just awesome. The games are pretty cool themselves, try them out if you have the chance.

Hey Duke Nukem 3D played MIDI properly too
Finished my last exam this morning so am starting work on site now. Here is my to do list:

1. Create a style sheet for use with all pages - need this to force consistency and quick updates.
2. Update the layout on the site to make it more functional - although it's fine as it is, I want the banner to take up less space and I'm gonna make the links text only as opposed to graphics.
3. Script a "MIDI player" ASP application that doesn't require a special plug-in and hopefully works with all browsers.
4. Create a database for storing the game music file information.
5. Write the database access code for searching and displaying results.
6. Upload some tracks!
7. Write the code for a message board to replace the stupid 3rd party guestbook I'm using. This'll allow people to just type their message and post stuff
8. Make the website "dynamic" in that it adjusts the graphics sizes to your screen resolution.
9. Update other sections of the site other than the music section.

Phew! Will take many days...

BALDUR'S GATE 2 (Michael Hoenig)
UNREAL TOURNAMENT (most especially "Razorback" by Skaven)
CARMAGEDDON (lot of Fear Factory instrumentals)

Deus Ex theme (Alexander Brandon)
Bejeweled (registered version - also by Skaven)

*ps - also, soundtracks from Doom 1 & 2 brings back a nice nostalgic feeling
